need computer help... lost files
Was moving pictures from one folder to another, and I got the popup "this file name already exists, would you like to replace it?".
I thought they were the same images (about 10 of them), but they weren't, just had the same names. They've now been overwritten with the new images. PPOT brain trust: Is there any way to recover them?

Jake,
Did you "cut" them or just "copy" them from one folder to the other?

Isn't there a Windows feature that restores your whole system to a previous state?
If it's a MAC, then I think you're screwed. Perhaps either way.

I think that the data could still be there ... if the new file size is larger than the old, it will be written to a different spot, and the old data will just be "deleted" (where the file space is switched to be available for writing).
...but then again, it's been a while since I've recovered files.

Why only one star?!? This easily is a 4 star thread.
Shoulda known: ![]() It doesn't look like I'll recover the images. Too bad too, they were "before" pictures for my latest project.

Just retrieve them from where you backed up your data...
You DID backup your data didn't you???? Ahmmm, if not then do it now and learn from this. Wouldnt Norton find these old files if the hard drive space had not over-written the area?

Running a Windows system restore to the previous point will not do it. Since the names were the same - I think you may have lost them.
Stop calling pictures the same name - as an example: hot1, hot2 hot3 and so forth.
