I think the devil's best trick was writing the bible and his second best trick was convincing people to interpret it literally.

How could I be offended by you Rick, especially after our night in DC.

Oh wait, what happens in DC...

At least Porsche-O-Phile has the sense to post his opinion as his opinion. No problem with that. he has a different opinion than I do, that's fine. That's what makes the world go around.

But when someone posts an opinion as fact, it is no longer a difference of opinion. It is bait for an argument. When it is taken further than that, it becomes an attack on something others hold dear. Then it becomes personal.

Just for ther record, I've made several posts on this board about muslim extremist radicals. Never, ever have I intentionally said anything negative against the religion of Islam. In fact much of what is in the old testiment is also in the koran. They are very close to one another, just from opposite points of view.

I have often talked negatively about the extremists calling them murdering, vicious sub-human animals.
Based on their behavior (blowing up busses, killing innocent people, calling for the extermination of jews, etc) I don't believe a retraction is warranted.
It isn't their religion, it is how they interpret it and act upon it that i have a problem with.

Edit: thank you Todd.

This isn't an argument, it's just contradiction!

"That's it. Good morning!"

"Wait! That was never five minutes just then."

I found this amusing, but not necessarily inaccurate. Pretty sure God didn't pick up a Cross pen and start writing, unless someone can prove otherwise. I don't think it's baiting or flaming in any shape or form either. You're on the web...it's tough to be sensitive in this arena.

We know you are trying at times but still love you...

God wrote the 1st two 10 Commandment tablets himself. The Evil One inspired many writings but I doubt ever did any actual writing himself.

Those who believe in the bible and it's teachings are taught that the bible is God's word. Most of them would also consider an insult to the bible a direct insult to God. They normally don't blow anything up when that happens though. They might get annoyed, they might get offended, but that is usually the extent of it.

Did men put the Bible on paper? Yep.
Did God dictate his word to man in some form of spiritual communication? I believe the answer is yes.

Many books in the new testament are letters from Apostles. While they were guided by God I think it would be safe to say they were doing the writing, the amount of influence is debatable. Was God guiding their hands or putting words in their mouths? In a way, yes. They were repeating God's word and spreading God's teachings through Jesus, if you believe.

Some say that it was titled ‘Of Darkness and Light’ .It goes on to expose and predict church, government, and royal corruptions. Less on the conspiracy and heavy on how the various forces use manipulation and psychology to influence and persuade. Been out of print for a very very long time (over 200 years). There was a copy in the rare books lib at Yale but it went missing and there is now no record of it. Hmmmm.

I wouldn’t mind getting a copy for our marketing department!

With all due respect to the believers out there, just about every religion's holy book is said to be the word of their god and they all believe the others are 100% wrong, if not evil. The Mormons believe all their craziness was handed down by God through Joseph Smith AND it all happened in the age of the printing press, so it probably hasn't gotten too lost in translation yet. Doesn't make it any more true or false than the others.
