all of the sudden we're speaking in tongues. Where's a televangelist when you need one?

Benny Hinn! Great entertainment. Why can't I ever meet someone who believes his bs?
|
I used to watch Benny Hinn. Theater of the highest level...

preachers like him and his kind can heal hemorrhoids to heart attacks over the television for believers across the word, so he says.. why can't any one them do anything about their own hair?

Anyone Remember Robert Tilton out of Dallas? I thought these "overdubbed outakes" were pretty good.

The bible tells people like him not to do what he does.
I can't remember the exact quote but it say something like, don't stand on the street and pray to get attention, but pray in private on your knees. Please forgive me for putting it in my words. Anyway based on what I know about the bible, Jesus would not care much for televangelists. In fact Jesus despised those who profited from religion. He said so, and turned over the money changers table and cursed those who worshiped money under the pretense of God. That was what led to his crucification, his attack on the rabbi's money making machine. These televangelists can't be true believers on the bible. If they really believed in the bible they would not act as they do. |

uh oh, the apocolypse must be upon us ;) |
Anyone ever catch W.V. Grant's "miracle rallies" on tv? They were great entertainment. I used to live near Dallas and can't recall anyone I knew ever being involved with those humongous congregations that had televised faith healing. Where do they get these audiences?
|
Sometimes I tune into the TV Church-pay channel - these guys know how to work an audience. Of course the folks in the seats are begging for direction but these guys can deliver a message. Great cadence, inflection, and a terrific use of imagry and emotion. I think anyone who is ever going into public speaking shpuld watch these guys.
Of course they are evil but they do evil well... |
Reminds me of that movie "Leap of Faith" starring Steve Martin.
Now that was good stuff. |
