Too bad you didnīt get Al Gore.
Not a fan of politics in general and normally try to stay out of such threads for lack of both knowledge and enthusiasm.
However, I just saw a long interview with Al Gore in Swedish television and I was really pleasantly surprised. He came out both humble, knowledgable and generally amicable in a genuine way. Whatīs your opinion on Al ? Did he fool me ? Disclaimer: 'Spell Check' did not work..

I personally think he is a very good guy. Met him once at a fundraiser. He can be a bit awkward in social situations - but he is bright and committed and genuinely passionate about important issues.
In my view he makes just about everyone in the current administration look like a cynical, corrupt and incompetent clown. And despite the ridiculous discussion about it on the board An Inconvenient Truth is one of the most important films that has been made in a long time, and has already done a great deal to bring climate change to the front of many agendas around the world. He's a good man, who has been much maligned for the usual partisan reasons.

And despite the ridiculous "documentry" Inconvenient Truth, Al is polling better than Hillary.

I was not looking to start yet another ridiculous flame throwing political thread.
I was curious to where he stands generally and on important topics. And whether his nice impression on television was a lucky strike or if you agree (like Dottore I suppose). Simply a neutral, to the point, description of what he has on his agenda and why you approve or not.

Al Gore comes from a Political Family. his pops was a Senator from Tennesse. People who knew Gore wondered if his heart was really in it when he ran for President in 2000 or was it that he was trying to please his family. Maybe the test of time and what he does in the futher will determine if that view was true or not. It does seem that Gore is much happier doing what he is doing now, and maybe he can be more effective being on the outside of the process rather than inside.

Dottore,
You and Livi are stirring the pot...your going to get critical mass.. Hitler was good at this type of "Brain washing" nonsense. Tell someone that 12 inches is really 6 in length over and over and after a period of time, the individual will begin to believe it. Its proven. Humans caused "Global Warming" When I was a kid, it was an Ice Age.. Really?...Climate change is the most important topic for your advocates of big government controlling everything. Don't give me that Gore climate know it all SILLINESS. The climate may slightly be changing and nobody knows why..You're the type of guy who believes the moon is made of cheese and want to destroy anyone who doesn't believe his dogma. Al Gore is an imbecile. He didn't design the INTERNET and he is not a climatologist. The forking head of NASA doesn't believe it..He's wrong..Right? and...If he was right, what can you do about it. Why don't you cash in and save the planet from your CO2 if you believe that crap. Anyone who has studied statistics knows that we do not have enough sample data to come to this conclusion. This would be a exceedingly small sample with an undetermined "Normal Distribution" So, since we are so smart tell me what 1 sigma would be in temperature variation and how long a period of "t" time... I would like to ask Al Gore this! The percentage of CO2 is very small and the concentration delta is negligible. among all the other chemical constituents. One thing assured, it will get big brother in your cool-aid.. Don't get me started .. ![]()

duh! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I mean, big news flash here. What you do with your power is what counts Glenn. Do you use it for good, or evil? You're a great example yourself, there's certainly a lot of engineering power in your brain. Do you use it to tear down other people's ideas, or do you use it to build a better mousetrap? off to install some ER polybronze bearings on my springplates. My god you should see how shiny these things are. ![]()

He does not have the negative baggage that Hillary has. He also has maintained himself in the media. He certianly has lots of Hollywood friends he could pull money from. If he runs and gets the nomination, I would say he has a very good chance of winning.
Plus, those computers looked cool in the SNL skit!

But people are thinking about global warming - and if you don't think this topic is an issue, you don't travel enough. It IS an issue everywhere we have been this year. The weather is increasingly f___ed, and I for one am happy to believe it when serious (yes serious) scientists tell me we are to blame. In any case here's a question: Is there anyone out there today who seriously believes that Bush was a better man for the job than Gore? Anyone?

Robert,
RELAX! Forget about the climate issue for a second. The man has to stand for other things that are equally important. What is Alīs opinion on for instance economics, health care, foreign affairs, guns, abortion, Iraq, religion etc etc etc..

Shaun,
Because I am a conservative doesnt mean I believe what "W" is doing..You should know that by now. I dont know who to believe. We were told that Saddam had WMD's and was a threat. He did and sent them to Syria IMO. Hear me out.... I think we have spent enough time training the Iraqi police.. Turn it over to them and get out...Dont say when...Just do it. NOW....My *****..If this country was under threat of WMD's, terrorism and biological weapons...Why the hell did Bush leave the borders open...How many bad Arabs entered with the Mexicans and what from the canadian side? Like I have said I'm beginning to think the whole global terrorism thing is a ruse. I would close the borders go find Bin Laden ands smoke him... Done deal..

Al's a one (non) issue nut-job. If he goes up against Hillary and appears to be leading in the primaries, he'll likely find himself in an unfortunate auto accident in time for her to take the nomination anyway. So....no worries. Al doesn't have a chance. Even if he does.

To say that many of you appear a tad skeptical to the man seems appropriate.
