ScanGauge
Has anyone used one of these in their OBD-II cars? I was reading a discussion on another forum regarding the uselessness or lack of gauges (coolant temp in particular) in modern cars. This comes despite the fact that modern electronics measure/track/use more information than ever.
Thoughts? http://www.scangauge.com/

Yep, I've got one. It's pretty cool. What do you want to know?

I have the ScanGauge OBD-II scanner installed on my 2007 MazdaSpeed3 and I find it very useful!

It works as a code scanner and will reset codes which is nice to have. It's also got a great trip computer if you are into that. I use mine some but seldom look at it, really.
99% of the time I have mine set to display these 4 attributes. rpm, mpg, mph, coolant temp. But it will display Fuel Economy » Fuel Rate » Battery Voltage » Coolant Temperature » Intake Air Temperature » Engine Speed (RPM) » Vehicle speed (MPH) » Manifold Pressure (not available on some vehicles) » Engine Load » Throttle Position » Ignition Timing » Open/Closed Loop

I suppose I want to know if it is legit or a POS. I hate the fact that my wife's RSX-S has no real gauges. I don't really need the extra gauges, but I like to know what is going on.
Also, a trip computer seems like such a no-brainer on a car with OBD-II. Do find the trip computer functions (MPG, distance to empty, MPH, etc.) are relatively accurate?

My ScanGauge is accurate, useful and well worth the $ I spent for it. I've used it to reset a few bogus CELs for my wife's Mazda CX-7 and my MS3. I like to keep track of mileage, etc... and it is much more accurate then the onboard gauges...

The trip computer is very accurate as far as I can tell. One of the functions will tell you how much gas you have left in the tank. I find that it's very accurate. When I fill my tank the thing generally tells me exactly how much gas I'm going to put in.

Thanks for the info, gents. Now I just have to explain to my wife why her car needs one of these things... ;-)
