Tony

Bunching people together like that is generally wrong. Not all liberals are athiests no more than all conservatives are christains. It weakens an argument to make such generalities.

It is all so confusing since I am conservative on some issues and more liberal on others. So is part of me athiest and the other religious?

No its not and yes I have lived in sin. But my love making to Jennifer is not "banging" its showing affection. Yes its wrong but something I am powerless over. I am human. I sin.

Sorry Bob...you have to choose which box to go into. There is no room for gray in this life...too complicated. Black or white. Conservative or liberal. Dem or Repub. Christian or Athiest. Right or wrong.

Pick a box...and be sure to put everyone you know into a box too. Makes hating people much easier and more efficient. ;)

Cop-out. You choose to do it, then feel better about it because you have an excuse ("I sin") and "ask forgiveness."

And isn't that the sort of thing a liberal does? Clinton would be proud of you, son :)

Moneyguy I see where your coming from but your faith should trump everything else. You must know that if the libs had it their way there would no religion but environmentalism.

Moneyguy1 07-04-2007 04:04 PM

Thanks Todd..

It is a big order, but if I really put myself into the task, perhaps it isn't too late....

So sin isn't sin because we are human? Did I miss something? So sin can be rationalized away? And all this time.......

Premarital sex is bad and wrong but this is just another example of atheist using a wedge issue to attack Christianity.

nostatic 07-04-2007 04:14 PM

with proponents like you, they don't need a wedge (sorry, I'm not an atheist). Or a putter even...it's a gimmie.

And now, to the 19th hole. What are you drinking?

Moneyguy1 07-04-2007 04:16 PM

I do not think that is true. We all have a personal internal morality code. What may be acceptable for one party may be offensive to another. Premarital sex? Who marries a couple? According to what I have learned, the couple marry each other and the JP, priest or minister is simply a witness for the state.
Therefore personal committment is paramount.

P.S. Like I said previously...Political beliefs do not necessarily reflect religious beliefs.

I admit Im imperfect. Thats more than any lib or atheist on the board has ever owned up to. I'm certainly not foolish enough to believe I know all the answers as I suspect many of you believe you do.

Moneyguy1 07-04-2007 04:29 PM

Tony

I think most of the folks here will say that I try really hard to be fair to everyone here, and show respect even when I disagree with them. When I needed their understanding recently, it poured out in quantities so huge that I was truly touched. It did not matter their political or religious leanings, they were all supportive. I am neither athiest nor am I any other easily attached label. Most here are far too complex to be easily categorized. I would like to think that it is your youth and inexperience that leads you to label others. It is unbecoming and will, in a short time alienate you like a few others in the history of this BB have been. Ease up a bit and don't be so tight a$$ed. Please.

tonypeoni 07-04-2007 04:42 PM

I'll always call a spade a spade or in this case a Lib a Lib.

It's nice to know that personally you believe that you don't know everything; your alter-ego web persona is certainly one of a judgmental know-it-all.

I hate that this thread has been hijacked and is now aimed at me. Whats amazing is that 90% of the atheist, liberals and loose living types are all from California. Thats got to be more than just coincidental.

nostatic 07-04-2007 05:23 PM

duh! We like it out here and are glad that open-minded people like yourself are...um...somewhere else.

"Loose living types" - that's funny!

Like I said women have been a vice for me. Im trying thats all a guy can do.

nostatic 07-04-2007 05:34 PM

if trying is the best you can do, then maybe you want to reconsider throwing stones...glass houses and all that. Then again, I'm from Cali, so you might want to take that advice with a grain of salt.

johnco 07-04-2007 05:36 PM

so you judge others, imply they have deviant lifestyles and are condemned to eternal torment by your loving merciful god, but it's okay for you to do what you want because you're weak willed? you were taught by the group that wrote the rules you don't follow to condemn others? talking the talk again. don't so what I do, do what I say do is what one teacher used to tell us.

tonypeoni 07-04-2007 05:43 PM

I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe he died for all our sins. Yes mine too. This is America we believe in God as it says in our pledge to the allegiance and on our legal tender.

That's because you appear to be a wacko.
