Cool, the kids will love it. Mine love ours and it's nowhere near as flash as that. We've done loads of trips with the kids and there are a few things I try to stick to.

Once in the area where you are touring, aim for not too many hours driving a day and try stay in a few camps longer than one night. I always aim to be parked up for the evening by 4.30-5pm with the kids on board.

Get some guide books for your planned routes, so your wife can read about what you guys are passing through to you while you are driving along, otherwise it gets kinda boring for the passenger. There are always some good bits in those books that inspire at least one night out somewhere unplanned.

Bring plenty of trusted DVDs for the smaller ones, to pass the time on the road. It makes the holiday much more enjoyable when they have some of their favourite home comforts with them.

Apologies if any of this is old news to you Wayne.

This is the new
Wagonqueen Family Truckster.

This is a fine automobile,
if you want my honest opinion.

It beats the hell out of
the Sportswagon but...

...I want to make you happy.

Try to get a diesel one. Gas engine vehicles like this simply suck fuel, while the diesel versions seem to work a lot better. A good friend of mine just drove a diesel version from Phoenix to Seattle last month and he loved it...

Have you seen the movie, RV w/ Robin Williams, it's pretty funny. You might enjoy it on the return home.

+1: mine is a 6.2 diesel.

I hear the oil burners are hard to find on rental fleets though, as the support from manufacturers on the gas versions is irresistible for the hire buyers.

If you don't mind my asking, how much? and can it tow a Tahoe.

Trying to figure out how to move 4 cats and 2 kids to TX and the RV route is under discussion.

Great movie. Anyone with a daughter should see it for the opening sequence.

Yes. my brother has what looks like the same motor home, and he tows his Suburban all over the states.

However his is a diesel pusher, I'm not sure if the one pictured is gas powered, or if a gas powered one would be capable

Great! Wayne, what's it cost to rent something like that? How long will you have it?

I have been wanting to do that for a long time, but you hear the horror stories on the out-of-sight costs. Can you shed some light?

Thanks,

JA

Winnebago Warrior by DK just popped in my head.

Overkill in my opinion. Just make sure the lock on the fridge works.

Took one to Yosemite 2 years ago. It was the perfect fit. My then 13 and 11 year old daughters liked the bath and the ability to dry their hair, and my son (9) and I liked the lack of complaining.

After a week in the valley, we were ready to go and packed up. I had planned for a 7am departure. My middle daughter, however, started talking in her sleep around 3am. Once awakened, I figured I would just boogie. And that became one the best parts of RVing - I could get up early - my normal routine - and head on down the road. That day I made it to Magic Mountain before the first family member got our of bed. That's hard ot beat if you;re an early riser!
