"False flag" action coming? These conservatives think so.

Ron Paul warned in May that the Bush administration might try to stage a terror attack.

Now, Paul Craig Roberts, a Reagan administration official has stated essentially the same thing.

Are these guys wackos or are they on to something?

Nope, they are fully aware of the diasterous effect it will have on the economy. Thats why they are waging a war on Terrorism. They are deathly afraid of what a big event will have on the Capital markets of the world. Otherwise who would give a fk about what the Islamists do?

My understanding of that interview is that the above statement is not true.

He suggested that there might be a 'Gulf of Tonkin' type thing involving Iran. He never made a suggestion of a stagged 'terror attack' much less one on American soil.

The dems dont need to worry about burrying Ron. His own party won't let him get his head above water.

So you're saying this administration would put the 'good of the country' above staying in power? Wow. Looks like you didn't read what Roberts had to say.

I think it's crazy talk, but then again I wouldn't put anything past Cheney and his puppet these days.

Bush, who's too dumb to tie his own shoes, is somehow capable of pulling off amazing conspiracies.

Bush is too dumb to tie his shoes, but he is surrounded by people who are capable of pulling off all kinds of things to stay in power.

Remember how concerned Bush got about bird flu a year and a half ago after he "read" a book about pandemics? I believe it was Rumsfeld who gave Bush the book, and it precipitated plans for quarantining the US and imposing travel restrictions, and martial law... and for those who don't know, it's worth doing a search on "Rumsfeld +Gilead"

Nobody is saying that Bush is a mastermind, but the people who have shaped his foreign policy (many in PNAC) have major clout.

BTW, the irony is that the bird flu preparation frenzy of Oct. '05 was an example of actual forward planning by the Bush administration. Probably just a coincidence that it benefitted one of his closest advisors.

After many months of extensive training, Dubya is now confident on the shoe-tying thing. Sure, a Secret Service guy checks out his work and makes adjustments but he's learning quickly.

It will take some time before he's checked out on the reading and speaking thing.

The terrroist have already beat us in a way, they have us divided in the way we FEEL about them, divided in the way we want to DEAL with them, and divided us in the way that we TREAT each other becasue of our personal beliefs. The enemy we face now has faith, they are bound by their faith and will not waiver. They choose not to kill us by a single blow, but rather by a thousand paper cuts. We ourselves need to find each other again and be able to stand in the proper manner to deal with our current situation. Everyone putting out flags and sending out care packages to the troops is great, but it will not save us from those that want to destroy us. It will take a common purpose and a focused effort to rid ourselves of the threats that we may face. Just my .02 worth

Far more than $.02 in my opinion. Excellent point.

Let's be specific about who it is who wants to hurt us and why. Not Muslims, not middle easterners, but a relatively small number of radical religious nuts. We need to combat them by A.) killing the person who planned 9/11 (maybe Osama Bin Laden -- I wish we were sure) and B.) heading off the growth of the jihadist movement by dealing with the root causes.

Unfortunately, we don't live in a two dimensional world, and we have other factions to fear far more than the jihadists. We should fear the people who want to undermine the constitution and move us toward an oligarchy. Personally, I think we could all agree on that, too, if supporters of the current administration's power grab would stop and think of the effect of all that power in the hands of another party.

there's too much $ in conservative talk hate radio advertising and brand extension merchandising. It's in the economic self interest of a few that we will be divided forever.

I hate the way you liberals denigrade our president all the time. There's nothing in these statements that is even remotely true. It's just offensive to us real Americans.

He's always worn loafers. So easy to slip on and off.

Nice. After an excellent post regarding the divisions in our country, you blame talk radio?! Yeah, because they are the only dissenting voice in our nation. You're still sore about Air America's failure, aren't you?

This is the greatest country in the world, I don't know how we all so quickly forget it. Its a shame that our PC society is gradually chipping away at the American culture, because God forbid someone feel left out. America used to be an ideal, people came here to fulfill their dreams, to become Americans. Now people come here for free social services and illegal jobs, and don't have any interest in becoming Americans. And it's our fault, because we don't demand that they become Americans.

The only upside to 9/11 was that for just a little while, we pulled together and united against a common enemy. For a while we were one America, even if we didn't all agree about everything. It's a pity we can't keep that attitude in our daily lives, because despite our differences, we are all Americans.

1. I never listened to Air America, never wanted to.

2. I listen to Michael Graham, Laura Ingraham and Jay Severin. Their programs are filled with hate and blame.

EDIT:

3. they aren't dissenting on anything. They are strict party line mouthpieces for the Oval Office.

4. they are the only "journalists" who directly profit from their programs, i.e. hawking sleepnumber beds, timeshares, local hardware stores and then there's the chotchke crap on their web sites.

they are the political equivalent of shock jocks. A tried and true formula for making money.

Those are the facts.

You're a business man, so you should realize that this is stupid on so many levels. Where do television shows get their income? Advertising perhaps? When does the advertising cost the most? During the highest rated programs. Which news anchor gets paid the most? The one with the highest rated program.

Just because Brian Williams isn't directly hawking a Toyota Tundra, don't kid yourself into thinking he is a beacon of journalistic integrity. He sells with ratings, and his pay is based directly on how much he sells. It is no different, just a different medium.

Brian Williams doesn't have his own brand with over 500 products nor does he have paid memberships. Our country is doomed.

No Spin AFGHAN blanket?! Oh, sweet irony.

I still say you are picking nits. Each sells products, just in a different way. Further, I would suggest that you are listening to the wrong programs. Glen Beck is one of my favorites, as his values tend towards the conservative side, but he is more than happy to bash the Republican party. Dave Ramsey is another favorite, that has nothing to do with politics.

Funny how those that typically yell the loudest for free speech are also the first to attempt to silence those that speak against them.

I believe Bill O donates all the proceeds from merchandise to charity. But I'm not a fan and don't watch him.
