Don't worry Matt, I am going to dinner for a work function, and I am sure all of us will get steak, that should make up for your chicken burrito.

What about all the gophers, mice, crickets, lizards, etc. that were killed in the course of growing the crops that you eat? Was that wrong too?

Hawktel 07-18-2007 03:37 PM

Hitler was a vegetarian.

I don't like Onions.

The difference between me and a vegan is I'm humble enough to not press my views on others.

why don't you have a problem when they murder a cow 2,000 miles away that ends up on your plate?

I rest my case.

Because the cow is bred, raised and destined to be eaten. A dog is not bred, raised and destined to be eaten - not at least in this country.

Interesting how your new vegan diet has supposedly raised your level of health, and yet done nothing toward your ability to argue a point with any credible validity.

I rest your case, or lack thereof. SmileWavy

That is 100% USDA Certified Bull$hit ! I recommend you go educate yourself on how much protein there is in food besides meat.

Vegetarians on the whole, are much more healthier than meat eating counterparts.
Lower cholestorol, lower blood pressure, less cancer...

eat meat 4X a week and one day you will find out the difference...listen to your doctors, eat less red meat.

I presume on-ramp has never driven, ridden in, or owned a 911 with a leather interior.

You do realize you own a marque known for having superbly crafted animal hide interiors?
:)

Genetics, genetics, genetics. No matter how much meat vs. non-meat a person eats, most of the ability toward a long life is in the code.

Come on, humans have been raising livestock for thousands of years for a myriad of reasons from meat, to clothing and medicinal uses. They have also sewn gardens for the same purposes. It's all the balance of life and the reason why we have canine teeth up front, and molars in the rear. We can tear meat and grind up vegetables. We're omnivors.

There are so many people in this world, it would be impossible for them to live on farms to feed themselves. So we have mass production facilities.

This has nothing to do with some jerk pitting dogs against each other.

Genetics certainly plays a role but it's not the whole story. your diet also plays a big part.

You can have the best genes in the world, but if you have a very poor diet, you wont live long...go eat Big Macs 4X a week for a few years and you'll die by the age of 40, from clogged arteries due to the high bad cholesterol in your blood.
By no means am I trying to impose my views on other people. It's a free country. perhaps I should start all my posts with "IMHO"

How's about answering my questions. I'm trying to understand your position.

in a nutsell, unless that form of life is a threat to me or to my pets, then I respect it.

btw, do you know they torture and kill dogs daily at biomedical research labs at hospitals all around this country? Are any of those "researchers" prosecuted? do these acts offend you in the same way as Vick killing dogs offend you?

Does the animal know the difference whether it's being killed for research, shot in the head by Vick, or slaughtered for their meat? Of course not, it just knows it is being killed.

how we justify one act of murder over another escapes me...it's like religion all over again.

I used to work with a guy who ate two Big Macs 4x /week, I'd Google him but have forgotten his name.

This is where the vegan philosophy fails - in its delivery.

First of all, no one in their right mind will eat 4X Big Macs a week. Isn't that rather extreme at best?

If there are people who eat four Big Macs a week, they might likely are on a social level far below the enlightened level of the vegan. They cannot, on one hand, afford the expense, time and effort of the vegan diet that the vegan professes, while at the same time, the vegan sets themselves up as intellectually more aware of good food vs. bad food, all while giving bad examples of the bad food such as 4X Big Macs a week. Soon begins the talking down of one social class to another who is already entrenched with unsolicited advice from people who "think" they know better.

But I'm willing to listen. Find out who in the Tour de France right now has an exclusively vegan diet, and then, with the knowledge the T de F is the most grueling sporting event in the world, I will listen to whatever advice you, as a vegan, might have.

the 4X was just an exxageration to make a point. I didn't mean it literal.

Also, vegan is not a function of class. I don't know why you would like to make a connection. You can be poor, rich, white, black , asian or hispanic. Living a vegan lifestyle actually costs less money than eating meat. Have you seen the price of meat lately??

Regardless of all of this.....Vick broke the law. He needs to be punished.
As an owner of 4 dogs I want him to pay dearly.

This is what the thread was about right?

Right. Getting back to the point, he should be punished. The NFL should throw him out. Maybe one day the NFL will put "ethics" (what is right and wrong) above money, and not allow criminals on the football field.
