THANKS :D

azasadny 07-24-2007 06:20 AM

Thanks!

Wayne,

Thanks for taking the time and effort to work on this! The site is responding well, I just need to get used to the new "look and feel"...

MFAFF 07-24-2007 06:25 AM

Brilliant stuff......can't wait to see the finished item...

The only question.. .can we cope with the withdrawal symptoms?
We're going cold turkey here....

its tough without a twice daily fix..

man.....

:)

}{arlequin 07-24-2007 06:29 AM

looks like we're out of the bbs equivalent of the middle ages.

sweet!

berettafan 07-24-2007 06:30 AM

thank you for all your work on the forum. seems to load up fine.

was lost when i didn't see the 'quick jump' thingys at the top but i see now you're working on it. phew!

don't like the new look though. not enough contrast i think? for me this new version is a step backwards in terms of 'viewing ease'. maybe i'll get used to it though.

rouxroux 07-24-2007 06:31 AM

Spellcheck? Nooooooo! That's half the fun. I get more laughs than lolcat.

pwd72s 07-24-2007 06:33 AM

Not all that fast for me...and I'm on comcast now...

legion 07-24-2007 06:33 AM

[QUOTE=MFAFF;3393565]its tough without a twice daily fix..[QUOTE]

Just twice a day?

I think that makes you an amatuer junky. ;) :D:D:D

soxnail 07-24-2007 06:41 AM

Thanks for all the effort. I concur twice a day = abstinence :)
If you like I will run some validation tools on the site to show any major whoops.

widgeon13 07-24-2007 07:04 AM

Looks great, thanks for all the effort. Guess I'll have to buy some more stuff.

I think I can speak for all the rowdies over at the BMW R1100S/R1200S section...
Thanks Wayne, we sincerely appreciate your providing and maintaining this forum.
There's been a few badapples in the bunch but there are alot of good people over there.

Pink elephant dancing on my computer all day.. Got the shakes..

MBEngineering 07-24-2007 12:13 PM

HI Wayne things are looking good hear in the UK , the sit is a lot faster than last week/few days , the look is not to bad but I do prefer the old Pelican Parts , which spell check works best with the site as ieSpell has 5 options??.

regards mike

onewhippedpuppy 07-24-2007 12:25 PM

What a long day, I actually had to work!

87911jon 07-24-2007 12:25 PM

Thank you for all of your hard work. Had little bouts of withdrawl a few times today but I managed to re-focus on getting some real work done today.:)

t951 07-24-2007 12:46 PM

I found out something today....apparently there are places on the internet that also contain information. I always just used Pelican as my source for interesting news....
Wow, that was scary...good to be home.

tobster1911 07-24-2007 01:17 PM

+1 on the many thanks for this site.

I am so happy to see the preview when I hover over a thread. It is like Christmas in July. :D

Overpaid Slacker 07-24-2007 01:20 PM

Wayne -
Thanks for all your efforts.
I know nothing about how these things are set up or run, but I have a question/suggestion -- would things move faster/be more efficient if the complete header wasn't loaded for every thread/comment/login? All the tabs/images etc. have to take some time/bandwidth, especially multiplied by the sheer number of users/clicks/pages.

Good luck -- at least "losing t1 line" and "RAID failure" aren't (yet) signs of the apocalypse.

DanAllen944 07-24-2007 01:52 PM

I think its WAY better than the old one. I like the blue. Its good how it is right now.

Tidybuoy 07-24-2007 02:00 PM

Please hurry! I'm having to work all day and no goofing off - this is the only site I like (that I can use at work).

Porsche-O-Phile 07-24-2007 02:05 PM

Pretty nice interface - thanks for all the effort!

Porsche 07-24-2007 02:23 PM

You must be mistaken.

foamy911 07-24-2007 02:55 PM

So Wayne loses a disk and has issues with rebuilding the forums, at the same time craigslist gives this error:
Error

Craigslist and many other sites are having issues at the colo facility.

Please sit tight, and try again later.

We are aware of the situation, and the happy craigslist elves are scurrying to make it better, even now.

coincidence ? I think maybe Wayne is Craig from Craigslist :p:p:p

onlycafe 07-24-2007 03:03 PM

thank you wayne. effort is appreciated by us all.

Wayne, thanks for the forum and all the hard work that went into bringing it to life on the first place, for maintaining it and making it better. This forum is a great resource for all Porsche entusiasts, and I'm sure many of us, including myself, are very thankful for your dedication and hard work.

Porsche 07-24-2007 03:58 PM

The postbit legacy template looks weird as the left column has a size that is not consistent. :)

notfarnow 07-24-2007 04:39 PM

New forum looks/works awesome. The thread preview is AWESOME. Left column thing is a bit wonky though

color me stupid, but I can figure out how to upload a picture.

Do I have to start wasting my own bandwidth?!?

+1. Since I am a computer illiterate I don't understand half of what you are explaining but I sure appreciate your efforts to get your site up and running again. Us BeemerDorks (technical term) sure appreciate it!

Hugh R 07-24-2007 05:31 PM

Thank you Wayne. You give a weary traveler something to look forward to. And I ONLY buy my parts from you. I just wish I could afford to buy more.

cool_chick 07-24-2007 05:40 PM

whoa............

Flatbutt1 07-24-2007 06:22 PM

thank you for the effort Wayne, it is apprciated, and I'd like to show my appreciation by posting a pic of an appropriately clad young Brazilian dancer but I can't attach an image yet. Ahhh sweet anticipation

JeffreyNMemphis 07-24-2007 06:25 PM

Thanks Wayne!

Thanks Wayne!

I am on here everyday, more than twice, well I must be a fiend (spelled correctly).

I hope it isn't too soon to start a thread like:

"You know you are a Pelican when the site is down and ...."

You still have to check every hour to see if it is up yet!

Ebay sucks!

snowman 07-24-2007 07:12 PM

Wayne,

Care to give any details on the Raid hard drive failure? I am considering upgrading to a raid 1 capable home computer. Thats two SATA 10k rpm hard drives with a Raid card operationg in the raid 1 configuration. Also considering a mirrored (I think its basically the same thing) server configuration.

Its a lot of bucks, but what the heck, we can afford a Porsche can't we? I just do not want to EVER lose my info, for any reason, again, ever.

I understand that a true mirrored computer is a seperate, off site computer.

Is this what your are considering? Is there a best way to do this?

Thanks

Cool guy

hpservertech 07-24-2007 07:27 PM

Snowman - Sent you a pm to see if i can help you.

Wayne - You need any help with things?

stealthn 07-24-2007 08:01 PM

Wayne,

Seems fine, just one issue; having to type in the funky characters to verify a search. Really annoying and with the color background sometimes I can't see the numbers/words properly.

Thanks

Fanastic....what a change.. fast and slick... just what the doctor ordered....

I'm also mortally offended ;) by those who deem my twice daily fix insufficient.. after all its once in the morning, from 0700 'til 1200 and once in the afternoon.. from 1201 until 2300....I know its whimpy.. but come guys.. I have to have time to sleep.. with WiFi eating and 'rest stops' are no problem... but I have not yet managed to multitask in my sleep...

Good speed, hasn't been this fast in months!

Shaun @ Tru6 07-25-2007 03:27 AM

Seems fast again, great!

I'm not getting email notification of posts. Went into my CP but can't see where I would re-ignite that feature.
