The shooter couldn't hit the side of a barn, but the deer didn't get the point and run on the first or second shot either.

The deer correctly surmised that the safest place for it was right in front of the hunter. As long as he was shooting at it, the deer was safe.

I thought he kept shooting farther to the left with each shot. Considering how close he was you would have thought that with the third shot he would have realized he wasn't aiming at what he thought and aimed for center mass instead of the heart.
