Facts do not depend on how we think. No amount of wishful thinking or socialist tyranny will overcome the FACTS, mother nature, ie reality. Man has advanced only in the last 300 years. Why? Capitalism has taken hold. NO OTHER REASON.

There is a very interesting book in print titled "guns, germs and steel" that provides an very interesting story about the development of humanity from the earliest days until now by comparing the peoples of the different continents and how they evolved. It explains how we (some of us at least) changed from hunter-gatherers to farmers, and the importance of animal domestication in that evolution.
It shows how, five hundred years ago, the people of the middle east were much more technilogically advanced then we, the WASPs, were and how we overtook the technilogical lead. Very interesting book. The world is constantly changing, but whether for good or bad, is not for us to know. Maybe our grandchildrens grandchildren will know. Maybe not.

Pretty much like the stone age Incas. A huge pile of stones, so what? Most of the people back then were slaves. What a way to live. Even the industrial revolution did not solve the slavery problem, it was capitalism that eventually did away with slavery and freed most people. Since the advent of capitalism, even the poor live like the kings of old. Capitalism also curred most of the disease that has cursed mankind forever. No more small pox, polio, and on and on.

Think of it - those barbarians coming up with math and sceince and democracy (to name a few things).
Those things might have contributed (just a little) to this present age of earthly delights.

The world has changed, it is people who stayed the same. Technologically advanced cavemen, that is what we are, well some of us anyway.

Simple as that. Our physiological system would need another 500.000 years to adapt to modern society. At least. If ever. Kind of like Crocodile Dundee in New York City. Keeping up appearances, but crumbling inside.

But that requires evolutionary selection (differential reproductive success) and an admission that macro-evolution is valid . Who is going to do the selecting, the gubmt?

Yeah, well his customer service sucks out here in the Ikea in Burbank.

Maybe Mr. Kamprad has an email address you know of.

I am sorry to hear that. Generally they have improved a quantum leap since the start. Nowadays you usually even get a complete set of screws in the plastic bag.

Could it be ingvar.kamprad@ikea.com. .. canīt be that easy..or can it ?
