I guess the HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray fight is over

Star Trek - The Original Series is out on HD-DVD

I figured the end was near for Blu-ray when Microsoft went with HD for the 360.

From an article in the latest Perfect Vison. Either way it falls, 400 different titles is a joke.

Sony just never learned from the Beta/VHS wars. Porn decided that one too.

Or SD vs Memory Stick.

I for one like Sony Products but won't buy them since I can't use the SD cards that work in every other device that I have.

I dunno. I doubt I could name 400 movies I'd actually sit through and watch.

Not counting pR0nZ, of course.

This war probably isn't going to matter come next year or so. I remember reading some time ago that one of the major electronics companies had a dual format player that they intended on selling sometime next year to the public, making the format war moot.

LG has had a dual player out for some time now.

It still retails for $999 though. That's a lot to spend for something supposedly future proof. By the time the format war ends, the dual player will probably be 1 to 2 generations behind audio & video linkups.

Doesn't matter. If Blu-Ray 'wins' I simply won't go hi-def and will stick with my DVDs, which are Good Enough For Me (R)(TM)(C).

I'm going to buy a Sony Memory Stick just to store p0rn. ...or will it self-destruct?

Seriously, I keep saying, both "standards" will do fine. When was the last time we had ONE standard for media? ...drum or disk; vinyl or reel 2 reel or 8-track ...

Though there is never ONE standard in media, there is for the most part one major technology that leads others usually by "value".

A few common medias of past and present. (I'm sure there were more before my time.)

VHS.. gave way to DVD.. giving way to Hi Def DVDs

5.25" floppy disks.. gave way to 3.5" disks.. gave way to CD-ROMs.. gave way to DVD-ROMs

There is a problem with having the 2 incompatible standards. Paramount and Universal Studios now only produce their next gen DVDs in HD-DVD format. Sony and 20th Century Fox only produce their next gen DVDs in Blu Ray. Warner produces in both formats. You can't buy "Cars" and "Transformers" for the kiddies in the same format unless it's standard ol DVD.

Porn went HD, but times are differn't.

People are getting there Porn from the internet, so you can not say that HD will win.

They are both great, I think HD is easier to get into, but Blu-Ray has Disney.
