How many of you are into guns and target shooting? (Off topic again)

I love pin shooting but I'm not very good at it, I'm handicapped by being able to shoot a 45 either accurately or fast but not both. I think a 45 or a Desert Eagle 44 are still the best choices for those vicious man-eating bowling pins

What is everyone's best shooting experiences?
Mine, is some hot summer afternoons with friends, a pool, plenty of cold drinks and food on the side, having informal shooting competitions with air guns (not exciting compared to shooting practical matchs I know but I think that when we start taking sports too seriously they stop being fun and become business) Fellow poster Milu as well as being a fanatical shooter also collects and restores old airguns, he brings a long a selection and some more are rounded up. Favourite targets are pingpong balls, pine cones, tin cans and plastic mineral water bottles for the noise. I think some very serious and competitive shooters surprised themselves by having so much fun

Note: For those not familiar with this sport, pins shooting = bowling pins on a steel table, usu at 10 yds. The pin must be totally removed from the table. There is line of tables and you're trying to be the first to "clear" your table.

I've shot pins with .357 using 230gr "logs" (ouch), 9mm with 147gr/1000+fps (small bore). For large bore I use to use a .45 with fairly hot loads, 225gr at around 900fps but I switched a few years ago to .44mag (S&W 629). If you handload, lighter loads in the .44mag are great for pins. The 240gr bullet @ 900-1000fps bullet takes the pins right off but instead of beating you up like a hot .45, the big heavy wheel gun just kinda "wumps" instead of "whacks". Besides, its extra fun when you beat the guys with .45 "race" guns with optics using a stock revolver with iron sights.
The advent of the rubber Hogue grips means people with small hands (like myself) can reach the trigger on these large guns.

We used to shoot every Tuesday night. We'd shoot individually the first half of the night and then divide up into 3 person teams (6 tables). The .44 really came in handy when someone on your team was using an MP5 (a 9mm machine gun). Those 9mm sub sonics fill the pins with lead and tip them over but they don't always take them off the table. After I'd finish my pins I clean up their leftovers. Thump, thump, thump....

Excuse me I don't think it should be a right to bare arms. I don't endore civilians without the shoot don't shoot training defending there property. I think I learned alot of good family values from target shooting handguns with my father. I feel when a father spends time with his children it helps prevent crime. Beleve it or not they actually desine handguns specificaly for target shooting; These guns typicaly use a very small bullet. I am not a violent person and would never kill another person. Do you realy belive if we had no guns there would be no violence?

I forgot to mension my prefered handgun would be a highstandard target .22 gun. www.highstandard.com. The thing I like about these guns are the sights are mounted on a bracket and not on the slider. Another good chose would be a crossman air gun. If accuracy is important an air gun that the sites do not move is important. You can also look like big guns (i.e colt, barreta). These guns are usualy not as acurate as target gun because the sites are mounted on the slider that moves. I think these guns are made in America but I'm not sure.
