FTP server question

I run a ftp server from my home computer.

XP Pro
Serv-U
Netgear router
Dyndns.org account
Dynamic ip thru at&t with the updating being done by the netgear router

Today when I check the server using Smartftp from my work computer (not part of the home network) I get the 'server has actively refused the connection' error. Server log shows me as logged in successfully. If I do nothing for a minute or so, the ftp client refreshes and the connection goes thru successfully and all is well. If I disconnect and reconnect the same thing happens.

The client is getting hung up on the list directory command, after it refreshes and tries again it lists the dir.

Another client I tried simply stops at the list dir command and does nothing.

Any ideas?

Has it done this before?

Did you upgrade any software or firmware?

Know of any configuration changes to your work network?

Could be a lot of things.

I have been making network changes to get my Vista and XP computers networked. Finally got everything working properly and then the ftp server did not work smoothly.

I just figured it out. I do not allow passive transfers and all is well.

Learn something new everyday.

Thanks for the response
