Too big to fail
|
Assh*le customers...
This is why I couldn't be in biz for myself - I'd be behind bars for assault...
Another Pelicanite bought a CF heater tube from me, but said (in a rather nasty fashion with lots of four-letter words) he had a fitment issue and wanted a refund. I said fine, send it back and I'll give you a refund. He didn't want to send it back, but after several emails back and forth, I finally convinced him to send it. It eventually arrived and I sent him a refund - he even wanted the shipping refunded. So, today I'm headed down the the fabricator's shop, and I was going to take said tube to show the guy who makes them. Now, the stupid bit on my part is I hadn't even opened the box yet - I just send the refund blindly in good faith. Wow, big mistake on my part! This is what he sent me. I wonder how someone like Wayne would handle a customer who a) wants a refund without sending back the defective part and b) destroys it before sending it. I have to eat this one, but I'll be more circumspect in the future... ![]()

Nice, what a goof. Who was this fine fellow?
I built a second set of wheels for a fellow who couldn't measure (at our expense), they ship out next week, and I have not even been paid for the original ones.... I am not too bright..... I don't think I will send the second "free" set until the originals are paid for... Cheers

You have every right to be ticked. Maybe a stop payment on the check is in order? Returned goods in orginal shape is one thing, returned after being bashed to hell is another...

That blows...really sad given the fact that this BBS has been a great source of trade for me and many others.

Was the "fitment issue" before or after he mangled the damn thing?
My wife always tells me it's a darn good thing I work in a dark cube, out of sight of the public, and never have to deal with customers. I would take a piece like that and ram it so far up his ass it would remove a core sample on the way back out.

I hae a dguy liek thise a couple years ago, bought something from me, then complained that it didn't work.
He sent it back, and I sent him a replacement. Then I openeed the box and found this: Chopped up wiring, hacked off screws... ![]() ![]() In another case, customer did virtually the same thing....but he disassembled the pickup, undid all the wiring, and then stuffed everything back inside willy-nilly, calls me and says "Don't work, replace it"

What an SOB. I've had a little taste of what you are talking about having sold a bunch of spares on Ebay in the last year. Man are people petty at times. And some folks are just down right WRONG. I have one of your tubes and it fit fine for me on two totally different cars. I can't imagine what this person was thinking when he hacked the part up as he did. My personal theory is that we've got a lot of people out there today who view themselves as victims first and responsible personally second. In my view you should dispute the matter with this person as others have suggested. Those of us that have known you over the years here on Pelican will make sure to speak up should he attempt to speak bad of you. Again, sorry for your experience, especially around the holidays.

There's no way in hell I'd refund his money. Okay maybe it didn't fit, but now he's ruined the part for potential resale. (As if the layup mold goes off spec for one unit!) There's no way you destroy a carbon part like that "by accident". Sure it was done on purpose. You don't want this person as a customer.
...and this certainly explains why he didn't want to send it back.

I agree. That was intentional destruction of that part. It was done in spite. I also want to know who this asshat is so I never do business with him. If you don't want to tell everyone, please PM me with the name. thanks.
