Hate commute, looking for temporary accomodations in LA

Just thought I'd throw this out in case you can think of something. This is what I put on Craig's List.

"I'm a 62 YO straight male doing construction management and historic consultation. Current job is near the Mormon Temple on Santa Monica. I'm looking for a very private place Tue thru Thurs nights. Spartan arrangements OK, but privacy a must. Prefer private bath and private entrance. No work from home, only a place to sleep. I don't watch TV, listen to music or make any noise. I don't use dugs and I don't smoke. Internet access would be nice. VERY neat housekeeper, clean accommodations a must. I have my own bedding. I'd consider a trailer parked in yard or a converted garage. After 1/1/07.

My name is Milt and I live in Long Beach where I own my own home. I just hate the 2 hour drive home after work. I have been doing this kind of work for 37 years and have extensive references, plus I'm a licensed state contractor (meaning there is verified info about me at cslb.ca.gov).

Thank you.
"

You never know, so I thought I'd let the local Pelicans know. I need this to be within a mile or two. I do email; no PM's.

Uh, make that "after 1/1/08. I got caught on that one.

I feel for ya' man. The only reason I tolerated working across town for as long as I did was because I had a motorcycle. Not that practical for a contractor who needs to cart around tools & stuff though I imagine.

Is there any kind of "extended stay" place up that way maybe? Just a thought. . .

Have you looked at craigslist>losangeles>westside

I have been looking for a place for GF in Newport Beach so I don't have to drive down to Encinitas on the weekends to see her, I have become quite the little craiglist whore.

"This is what I put on Craig's List."

And yes, I have been lurking on CL for a month to get the gist. Mostly 20 somethings wanting to load up a place with 2 sets of bunks in the living room. Not going there.

I'll find an old widow that needs a little security. Hell, I don't have to even live in the house. As long as there's heat and some hot water, I'm at the Ritz.

Too bad it's not in SanFran, you could borrow a small motorhome and just leave it on the street.

They can do that? We could get away with that in Long Beach as long as no extension cord runs from the house more than a day or so (I'm not sure of the exact law; they just changed it). But that would be a big no no in or near Beverly Hills.

Shoot, I could always pick up an old MH and stay in the Wal Mart parking lot. They allow that nationwide. I wonder where the nearest WM is to BH???

And, I have that moped. Remember my "barn find"? Here comes Milt down Wilshire Blvd on a moped with nail bags over his shoulder and a hard hat instead of a helmet. Hoot.

There are several places in Santa Monica and Venice where RV parking is allowed, (or at least tolerated by PD). If I lost my apt. in this housing market, I would buy an older, used RV for peanuts and park it down there. Have a mountain bike and a MC+ a little car, join the Santa Monica YMCA and live off the land. Run on the beach in the morning, then go to work.

I'm sure you could find something cheap if running condition is not crucial, maybe you just need to look at a different section of CL.

Well, with 5 cars insured right now, I'm thinking a cheap room is a better deal. I'm giving it time. Maybe Jen Anniston will call.... Malibu ain't that far away.

Well it us San Fran. There is not necessarily a correlation between CAN and DO, knowwhatimean?

I imagine the tough part here will be weeding out the idiots that want to give you a garden hose and a space heater in their garage in order to make a few bux..

I wonder if I threw out an hour or so of metal work each night for a place. Might get to sleep with some grand old ladies!

So I think we're getting down to the meat here... What you've really done is posted an ad as a man-ho disguised as a "space wanted" request.
