Who hates winter?

I HATE WINTER UP HERE!!!!!

It's cold and the daylight is gone by 5:30. Dark when I go to work dark when I get home. Did I mention it's cold? Trees have no leaves, just skeletons of trees now. Winter up here always feels like the yearly death. Maybe I hate it because I grew up in Tampa where we were in shorts on Christmas day, the grass was always green, and trees always had leaves. Winter up here always makes me depressed. Everything is so F$%@ing dreary. Man, as soon as this winter is over I'm going to see how the RE market is for sellers in my area. If I can sell this house without losing anything I am packing it in and moving back to FLA!

Yeah, I hate winter, too. Crap, all there is to do is downhill ski, cross country ski, ice skate, snowboard, snowshoe, snowmobiling, etc. The mountains just look like crap with that white stuff all over them. And its so damn cold.... I have to turn the heater on! Oh yeah, we're going to Southern California and Maui in January and February when it REALLY sucks! Yeah, I hate winter, too.

Kentucky?

You should count your blessings. Try Buffalo or Cleveland!!

Why do you think I moved to Tucson?

I got where I dreaded the months betwen November and the first of May.

Well, if that's the kind of thing you like more power to ya. I personally don't. I like warm air, beaches, seagulls, sunshine, and women in skimpy clothes. I didn't ask for sarcasm, I asked who hates winter.

When I was younger, I did enjoy skiing. As I grew older and less "agile" (broke a few bones on the slopes) I decided that memories were a lot easier to endure than additional pain!!

Yeah, I hate it. I had to close the pool last week, and probably won't open it again until March. And the temps, it was only 75 today. Almost cold, here in hell...

No pretty snow here, it's all freezing cold wind and rain, overnight frosts, lights on most of the day and heat on all of the day, cars filthy, roads slippy and lots of bumps and scratches on the cars too with the salt out there. Yuk.

I like some of the stuff that only happens in winter, like lighting the fire for example, but really, winter only serves to make me appreciate summer more: long dog walks, long top-down drives, long sunsets but no long sleeves - come back soon sunshine!

I'm liking it. After spending a lot of time in SE Asia and then Brisbane, I wasn't thrilled to be back home and dealing with winter last year, but this year I'm enjoying it. Snowboarding is always good, then there was blasting around on unplowed roads last weekend in the WRX, and come on, it looks great. Yes, there are downsides too, but now I realize, I want every year. When I have a proper garage, it will even give me time to do those important projects on the 911...

Not anymore.

When I used to have to get out in the morning and drive a milk truck, I used to be less than happy with my lot some days. Later when I was an area sales rep and manager and had to travel just over 600 miles/week, winter wasn't so much fun either

Now, I wait 'til the snow is over and fire up the Kubota, if it won't blow, it'll push. If it won't do either, screw it! I'll go back inside and read a book. Spring has come to this area every year, so far and with spring comes Maple season! Now that's worth putting up with winter.

...besides, how else could you have ice-wine? snowball fights? tobogganing? skating? Ice-hockey? And you know what, I much prefer shovelling fresh snow then going to the gym.

Cool winter pics of the last dump we got. I don't know, I think it builds character. Personally I enjoy it and I will take it over having nasty bugs and insects any day.

And for fun.......

I can't wait to move to AZ. The only snow I ever want to see again is on mountain tops. I can deal with the cold. I can't deal with idiot drivers who are afraid to drive in the snow, but insist on doing so. Around here, they close schools if flurries are predicted and the supermarkets are mobbed with people who have phobias of running out of cat litter and tp. If it weren't for all the idiots who can't handle winter, I really wouldn't mind it.

Winter sucks from a Porsche perspective. But I love the winter- or at least I love it when we get lots of snow and cold weather. I agree that the darkness gets old though...

Cheers,

Paul.

Is that a trick question?

I moved up here after living in the Greensboro, NC area for 17 years. After I retired I could play golf every month of the year and with my old Triumph bike or 911's when I couldn't play golf.

Up here they basically shut everything down at the beginning of Nov. and you would have to had a Siberian husky in your family tree to be able to go out in the garage and turn wrenches!

Does that answer the question?

I hate summer, I hate sweating when I am not exercising, I hate mosquitoes, I hate cleaning bugs off of my car, I hate mowing the grass, I hate 90+ degree days.......

Ooops, I see you said winter not summer. Sorry, I love winter (along with spring and fall).

PS, Kentucky does not really have "winter" in the traditional sense. You rarely will get much snow to play in (which is what makes winter so great)....I guess if winter meant dark dreary 35-45 degree weather with no snow, I would not care much for it either.

I've been told this all my life. Personally, this is one lesson I want to learn the hard way.

Chalk up another one who hates winter!

Maybe I'll take up ice racing.
