So, what should/will be our new policy in Pakistan...
if Mushy is overthrown and the new guys are anti-American or do not want to allow elections?
Do we invade Pakistan because they undeniably have active nukes? Do we have the CIA attempt to back a coup of someone we think we can trust? Do we bomb Pakistan? Do we attempt some more "nation building" ala Iraq? Do we simply sit on the sidelines and hope? Do we admit that "democracy...freedom" is worth getting Americans killed in Iraq but not in Pakistan? |

Forget Pakistan. Musharraf procuring billions of our dollars for a wasted effort in helping us locate a terrorist he's obviously hiding, is an effort we should abandon.

Drop them, cut off all aid and let them sort it out for themselves. Cut of US aid to all foreign countries, what the hell have any any of them ever done for us except suck off our foreign aid. I don't care if oil goes to $200/barrel, I drive a 40 mpg hybrid and I don't drive very far to work. I can afford it.

What Hugh says. In fact, the presidential candidate who speaks the least about what we should do about Pakistan, or has the strongest stance against doing anything about that country, will be the one I might more likely vote for.

Yeah, what are they gonna do, anyway, attack us here at home with the nukes? Who cares what happens to all the innocent Pakistanis? What have they ever done for us?
Boys, the United States is STILL the greatest place on Earth, and it is so because we are willing to put our money where our mouth is. We walk the walk, and YOU are able to voice your opinions about it because this nation refuses to follow polls, and does what is right because it is right. The fact is that "Mushy" is the only tangible ally available to prevent a pretty serious situation for us over there, so we better tread very carefully through the next few months.

Hugh, is your Rudge restored?
Long, long ago a friend of mine had an AJS that was rumored to have raced at the Isle of Mann in the 1930's. Nice old bike. However, my favorite year at the Isle of Mann was the TT race in 1969. A Triumph won it and I think that they placed about a half dozen in the top 10. Maybe I like that year so much since I have a 1969 Triumph Bonneville T120R...that has 5,341 miles on it! ![]() |

Prop up Musharraf, then send WI wide body to negotiate with the terrorists.

It should be the same as everywhere else - Stay the hell out of their business. We have plenty of problems right here that need to be addressed.

Ramp up support for India.
Pakistan concerns India enough now. A Fundementalist, actively anti-Western Pakistan (with Nukes) would terrify India. Let managing Pakistan be India's responsibility, just as managing the failing states of micronesia is ours (ie, Australia's). The problem is should the Indian military actually stop an armed suicide bomber without giving him Miranda, legal representation, couselling and a big warm hug, the liberals amongst us will be screaming human rights violation and demand we withdrawl support to India.

+1. COMPLETELY agree.
I also think the U.S. needs to take a harder stance with "Mushy-arrif" and tell him in no uncertain terms that either he gets serious about reining in A.Q. and cracking down on these "tribal regions" or we'll do it for him. Pull our guys out of I-wreck where they're ultimately on a fool's errand and let them do something meaningful that really has some purpose to it as part of a "global war on terror". Send a message to the extremists that if they f*ck with the U.S. they'll get 50,000 pissed-off Marines kicking their door in and dragging them out by their nuts, not that we'll let them get away and go fight some illegitimate war in a non-related country for our own imperialist ends. You know. . . do what Bush said he'd do in the first place and then conveniently "changed his mind" about. We need to stop being a nation of pussies first and foremost. And anyone that doesn't like it is welcome to leave. We have too many people here as it is.

Their weakness is eroding our civilitation and opening the doors for our enemies. then when it's all over, if there are any of them left alive they will have a look of surprize on their faces and say "what happened?" Their grasp on reality is so weak they will not even realize they were the cause. So to the 19 potential martyrs if your listening, be patient. Soon enough the weakness that is growing here will hand this country over to you without a fight. |
