What is the "POLY" in polygraph?

I can't find it anywhere.

"poly" means "many". A polygraph measures many things; heart rate, galvanic skin response and some other stuff, I think.

From the Greek; polus = "much"

Would you like to hear it used in a sentence?

Kind of like:

poli (or poly) = many
tics = tiny disease-ridden, blood-sucking insects

It also pays to listen closely to words. Once, when a new girlfriend told me she was a thespian, I got all excited, suggested a threesome and she dumped me.

LOL Reminds me of my Big Fat Greek Wedding

I watched that at my dentist's and almost got my gums polished from laughing in the midst of a polish.

Main Entry:
poly-
Function:
combining form
Etymology:
Greek, from polys; akin to Old High German filu many, Sanskrit puru, Latin plenus full — more at full

1: many : several : much : multi- 2 a: containing an indefinite number more than one of a (specified) substance b: polymeric : polymer of a (specified) monomer

If you search for "prefix poly" it's really easy to find.
