Wow! Looks like that was one ENORMOUS man hole cover that the guy ran into. What amazes me is that all of those people were still driving (or trying) to drive past that volcano of water. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'd stop or at least try.

During that two-minute video, the water errupts and drains twice. Being that it is in the middle of an interstate, that is a storm drain, not a sewer.
Where was this video taken? My guess is that whatever body of water the storm drain leads into was running backwards up the drain. Storm surge? (It couldn't have been that severe as people were driving.)

Yeah thats too big to be a sewer manhole. I would guess it connected some major drainage basins together. Either could be two opposing heads meeting each other, which would explain why it happened twice with a pause, or it maybe a crossing water main broke into the storm piping.

I found another site where the sun had started to rise and some guy had gone to find it and filmed it - it was still happening, and no emergency vehicles etc had shown up yet.
