Personal Taser, Would you carry?

I see personal tasers are starting to appear on the public market. Would you carry one or encourage a wife or loved one to carry?

Hell yes.

EDIT:

Wow, I see the ladies can get it in pink too. To match your pink Razr cell phone I guess.

I would carry one, but it seems a little silly considering the .38 S&W in my belt.

No way in hell. If one is being assaulted physically, to the point of needing some means of self defense, one had better shoot the son of a b!tch. All you are doing by tasing the bad guy is pushing his lawless aggression off on some one else. There is no way in hell you will be able to hold him long enough for police to arrive and apprehend him, unless you simply keep zapping him.

And what if there is more than one? Most of these cowardly bastards run in at least pairs, if not packs. The one(s) you didn't taze will most assuredly hand you your ass before you can taze them. Even if there is only one, most folks recover fairly quickly. Tazers are only meant to disable long enough to cuff or otherwise restrain. When that guy does get up, if he has any chance of catching you, he now knows the score and will approach accordingly. And he is going to be pissed...

Nope, if a confrontation escalates to this level, where one needs a tazer, it has gone far enough to justify deadly force. Especially for a civilian. The last thing I want to see is to have these things legalized for civilian use, and every ass hat with a temper using one to settle a dispute over a parking space or something. We have already seen that even highly trained police officers are unable to exercise discretion in the deployment of these things. I think the non-lethal nature of them encourages their use. With a gun, you had damn well better really need it, with no other options, and you better be able to prove it. Tazers remove that requirement.

I'm so glad I don't live in a place where I need one.

I concur with Jeff. Besides, anyone you taze, justified or not, will sue you into the poor house. If a burglar can sue a homeowner for injuring himself during the break-in, rest assured, civilian tasers are gonna be lawsuit machines.

Maybe a lethal Taser style product - like the Star Trek Phaser - designed to kill?

"Phasers - set to kill!"

Wouldn't be as messy as a gun.

Best,

Kurt

If you cannot or will not carry a gun, then a Taser is the next best thing. Plus some OC spray to use when the guy is still down.

If you cannot leaglly carry a gun, I feel for you. I would work to change that and continue to carry anyway. "Better to be judged by 12 than carried by six" any time.

If you "will not", even though legally entitled to do so, then I have absolutely no sympathy. You have already lost. You have given up your personal safety for some bull***** liberal hand-wringing ninnie delusional utopian blather. Taze away... let us know how that works out for you. If you survive...
