the big "v" - any downside?

I think it is time to get snipped...the world doesn't need any more little nostatics running around. For those that got it, any long-term downsides? Particularly wrt drive and performance. The g/f has come to expect a certain level of service...

I just want to be held now.

j/k. Man up and cut.

Suggest you investigate the no-scalpel procedure which uses a puncture wound - much easier healing, less discomfort.

I've got one friend who got it, and one who is going to get it. The one who got it has two kids, and the one who is getting it has his second on the way. From what i hear it's really not that bad, and after you get it you need to "discharge" the pipes frequently before being tested for sperm count after a month or so.

In medical circles we call that the "mallet and anvil" technique.

Hmm, ever hear of this?

Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome
Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome (PVPS), genital pain of varying intensity that may last for a lifetime, is estimated to appear in between 5% and 33% of vasectomized men, depending on the severity of pain that qualifies for the particular study[10] [11] [12] [13] In one study, vasectomy reversal was found to be 69% effective for reducing the symptoms of chronic post-vasectomy pain. Treatment options for 31% of patients whose pain did not respond to vasectomy reversal were limited. The study was very small, only evaluating 13 patients, making it difficult to draw solid conclusions. [14] In severe cases orchiectomy has been resorted to. [15]

Well, you play bass and now you'll have an alto-tenor voice. Give Timothy B. Schmitt a run for his money...

For some, that is the same procedure.

Did the scalpel-less technique myself several years ago. Did not opt for any anesthesia and it really was not that bad. Stung a bit is about all. No side effects and no difference in the "quality" of your, uh, uh.....

A plus is that there will be less clean-up as you won't be marking in your home any more.

Originally a Chinese procedure, using the forceps to pierce the scrotum, right?

More detail than you probably want to see here.

Yes, but I don't think it's very common.

Regarding "scalpel-free" vasectomy; The skin must be opened to access the vas deferens. You can have a small surgical incision with a scalpel or a crush injury with a clamp, essentially tearing the skin. Both methods work. If I were to have a vascectomy (and I'm not) I'd let the surgeon choose the method he was most comfortable with.

Ice the boys up for a few hours after and keep popping Ibuprofin - you will have an "eggplant" look for a few days but there isn't much pain at all.

Except for when I told my wife "now I can stop using condoms with my girlfriend". The swelling took a while to go down after that....

BTW... I was prescribed a Valium to take an hour before the surgery. Do yourself a favor and let someone drive you to the doc's office. It is no fun at all driving on Valium, not to mention a HUGE danger to general society.

You're the guinea pig. Please report on how it is and what procedure you use. Pics are most definitely NOT required.

Been considering this one too.

Had it about 18 years ago. No regrets, no problems, no condoms, on IUDs, none of that stuff. You just take it when you want it. I think I took some advil or something that night, no digging trenches or heavy lifting for a few days. Don't recall any real discomfort.
