Anybody watched Smash Lab?

If so, what did you think?

I thought "Mythbusters" is tough to beat.

Best,

Doesn't have the 'depth' of Mythbusters - you get the feeling that these kids have no clue WTF they're doing or talking about.

I think their application of the scientific method is sloppy at best.

Then again, so was the Mythbusters at first--they got better over time. They started responding to specific viewer complaints.

Smashlab might improve too--we'll have to see how the second season goes. Everything they are showing has already been taped.

Oh, and it seems to me the girl in that show is intentional eye candy...

I think Smash Lab beats it. Very cool - at least the couple of episodes I've seen thus far.

WTF is the budget of that show anyway? I caught the one where they clad an entire mobile home in carbon fiber. I have seen that material used (for diaphragm patching applications in floor slabs) in buildings and it's expensive as f*ck. I'd estimate the cost of the material alone to do that mobile home at probably $50k or more!

The one with the train was pretty cool too.

I agree with the "from the hip" application of scientific method though. Kinda' like M.B. - it's really just entertainment with a little teeny bit of scientific content to give it some legitimacy.

I recorded three episodes, watched one, then delete the other two. It really made me appreciate Mythbusters in so many ways.

Cheap "clone" of Mythbusters. Same setup (three or four guys, one girl (who just so happens to be very attractive) and all they do is blow stuff up... I'll pass...

I went to the Discovery Channel bulletin board for the show. A large number of people created accounts just to log on and voice their opinion about how lame the show is. 99% of comments were negative.
