On further reflection, I was wrong to threaten a lawsuit. I apologize to mule and to the rest of the board for going so far over a trivial matter. I will also remove the comments about mule on my sig line as per a request from ZMAN.

We have many stand up guys like that, will say something off the cuff, rude, mean, what ever, I know, I have done it myselve, but what makes this group so much better than others is the fact that instead of hiding, ignoring or running about, most here stand up, admitt they were wrong and say they are sorry, live goes on, but that is what makes this group better than the rest, sure we get into petty wizzing matches, but when it comes right done to doing the right thing, most have shown they are willing to do it.

Well, it appears it never ends. I only check my home email once a week. So what did I find today? My inbox is flooded with anonymous insults and taunts and assaults on my manhood - pretty much the same stuff that I've gotten on this thread for the past few pages.

Okay, whatever. It is juvenile but not shocking.

The kicker is that I am still receiving nasty emails. Except now I am being called a coward and pussy for apologizing and refusing to fight "like a man". Much like mule's new tag line ("Making (grown) babies cry & silverbacks howl since 2008"), it appears the intention is to taunt and provoke me into continuing the conflict. Fortunately, these all arrived at my personal email account and not my account at work - otherwise this would be more than the minor irritant it currently is.

So, of course, I immediately jumped to the obvious conclusions. But not so fast. The emails are not coming from Pelican. They are being sent directly thru my personal website (which gets routed to my AOL account). At first I was baffled because my website URL has not been in my signature for weeks. But then I realized my website is still listed in my Pelican PROFILE. It is sad because my website is devoted to articles and pics about fellow Pelican members, their cars and restoration projects. So it never occurred to me that I should hide my website from the Pelican community.

So there ya go. Since this is happening outside of the Pelican system, I doubt there is anything the mods can do. And to be fair, there is no evidence it is coming from a Pelican member. It could just as easily be some 12 year old in Thailand who can't get laid and spends his time causing trouble on other people's websites. That ***** happens, friends. We sometimes forget that everything we say here is openly distributed world wide. And trolls come in all shapes and sizes and they aren't exactly in short supply. It could easily be a lurker who can't send messages via Pelican.

So what will I do? I can ratchet up my spam filters. Beyond that there is nothing. And frankly, I'm not even angry - just frustrated and fed up with PPOT.

You already did the right thing by apologizing, so just ignore the emails and they will stop, IMO.

You're right. I'm just venting. There is nothing to be done and nothing can be accomplished by stressing about it. I've never before had my personal life invaded by a conflict on PPOT. It all just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

There are a few people who post on PPOT for one reason only, to taunt and cause trouble. They don't just present an opinionated argument, everything they post is an argumentative personal attack on anyone who may disagree with them, posting things they could never get away with except on the internet. It makes them feel like big men to be able to say things behind the protection of a computer screen that they would never say to people's faces in fear of getting their skinny pencil-necks snapped clean off.
I'd bet money the e-mails are coming from one or more of these individuals.

It's a shame that a very small group of people can have the negative influence on this board to the extent that they have, and it is a shame that they are allowed to continue.

So who are the emails coming from? It should be fairly easy to identify the senders.

Unless along with hiding when they get boxed in on a subject they also hide when they send emails. Those are the true phony folks who fuk up a board.

After a few attempts of asking them to 'tone it down', I just put them on 'ignore'.
It's awesome.

I'm patient and will tolerate many insults and personal attacks...To a point.

I'm surprised more people don't do this.
Trolls thrive on attention. If you don't feed them, they will look elsewhere.
