				Let's talk Super Delegates

Super Delegates (SDs) are people chosen to vote for anyone they want at the convention. The Democrats have over 800 SDs. The Republicans have 123 or so. For the democrats, the SDs are every senator and congressman with a D after his of her name, plus VIPs in the party. Democrat SDs were created in 1982 because party officials did not like the candidates the citizens were picking, from McGovern to Carter. With over 800 SDs, they have a chance to pick their own candidate if it is close. This year, they may very well have that chance, and Hillary could win even if she has fewer "regular" delegates than Obama. I've done a little research on this issue, and this could be very damaging to the democratic party. Democrat callers to a radio show I just listened to were upset that the democrat party has so many SDs, thereby potentially nullifying their vote. Gives them a bad image as the party of the people. What the Democratic party is saying is, "You folks out there don't know what you're doing. Let us handle it." Think of the shyte-encrusted fan if the party officials boot the anointed one and select Hillary in his stead. This could be better than the 4th quarter of the recent Super Bowl!

Hmmm...could be a good strategy for him when we find out who the Dem. nominee is. Pit disgruntled Democrats against Hillary.

Its interesting to see the Dems squirming now that they realize that the person who has the higher popular vote very well may not get the nod for the run to the White House.

It will be interesting to watch. Barring stupidity, I would bet we are going to have a Democrat in the WH. Yes, barring stupidity. | ||

Ever ponder why voter turnout in the USA is so pathetic..??? Super Delegates Diebold Voting Machines Hanging Chads Dead People Voting Ballots NOT Delivered to voting stations "Certain" Voting Stations Kept open later than normal .... Ad infinitum A system that is held together with duct tape ...and deception. (the prosecution rests it's case)

Reviving thread. The super delegate thing is getting more and more press. I never even heard of them a month ago. This is the newest political term to hit the mainstream since the 'hanging chad'.

The mere existance of these "super delegates" says a lot about the party's perception of the American people. I don't know who these people serve, but it's not us. However, it should be fun to watch.

I don't think the Democrats are automatically going to win. Hillary gets nomination, I'm giving McCain an 80% chance of winning. Obama gets nomination, I'm giving McCain a 60% chance. I think you conservative folks are focusing to much on apathy with the conseravative vote. McCain gets much love from the independants/Regan Democrats.

BTW, if Hillary gets nominated by the super delgates, and Obama has more regular delgates, I will give her a 0% chance of winning. It would be an ugly, crass moment, and I for one would actively campaign against here.

Maybe the preacher will be convincing enough to sway Hillary's delegates.
