Clemens (and his lawyer) are officially idiots.
He was fine, wasn't even accused of committing any CRIMES, was not required to testify to anyone.
Yet, he of course insisted on putting himself under oath before Congress. With entirely predictable results. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3267893 What an idiot. His lawyer is an idiot, too. If I were his lawyer, I would have resigned if he didn't take my advice to stay away from Congress and testifying under oath. |

It was either try to wiggle out or no Hall. And he really wants the Hall. He wants to be Nolan Ryan.

He will never be Nolan Ryan. I personally hope that they nail his arrogant ass to the wall.

Too bad Nolan was still better without steroids. Plus, he's not a total ass.

It's funny that the Fenway Faithful still taunt him with "NIXON OWNS YOU" everytime he goes to Boston. Even though Trot Nixon hasn't been there in a while.
![]() Roger's good, but a d*ck. I hope he and Barry Bonds are nixed from the HoF like Pete Rose.

Nolan Ryan is a better man, Roger Clemens is a better pitcher.
I remember a game in Oakland where he threw a bunch of crap out on the field, that was pretty classy.

Nolan Ryan was a throwing almost exclusively fireballs as a STARTING PITCHER at age 45. That is an astonishing accomplishment. True, Roger Clemens had needlepoint accuracy.

No doubt about that one. I also agree with Supe...the fact that Nolan was still "blazing away" in his mid-40s was simply unheard of. Nolan should have Supe's screen name
![]() ps: One other thing I'd add...Nolan was a MUCH better "pitcher" at 45 than he was at 25. I wouldn't want to face his 90mph curve ball either ![]() Last edited by KFC911; 02-28-2008 at 09:38 AM.. |

So what if Clemens was a better pitcher, I still like Nolan better.
![]() I'd be a much bigger baseball fan if we still had players like Nolan Ryan.

Watching Clemens on the Hill was just ridiculous. Why do these guys have to read from some lawyer-prepared statement like it's a bedtime story? Just enter it into the record and go ahead with questions. I immediately stop believing someone when they have to read the words, "Let me be clear". No, how about dancing around the issue a little longer? Clemens could have totally turned the tables on those idiot suits in Congress and he screwed the whole thing up. He and his lawyers are truly idiots, and that should be a crime in itself.

Sadly, I'm not sure I want my kids to idolize anyone in professional sports. Hard-working role models have been replaced by tatooed thugs. It's no wonder I'm a much bigger college sports fan, where at least some of the players still care.

Wow, I had stopped following the story after I heard what Pettitte (and his wife) had said.
The article you linked really points out all the discrepancies...Seems as if he can't tell the truth about anything. I'll admit I never liked him, but I never had reason to think he was a lying sack-o-crap, which is exactly what I think of him now. ...Now that I think of it, it shouldn't really come as much of a surprise, I mean, we are talking about a guy that officially retired back in 2003, yet habitually has come out of retirement (at his leisure) to earn millions for whatever team will pay the most and agree to his silly contract terms and length. -rant over- ![]()

I don't think I'd want to testify to congress, all they have to do is FIND you in contempt for lying, they don't have to PROVE you lied. Having said that, yeah, I think he lied as well, and has probably stolen one or more records from others.
