Microsoft Silverlight?

My computer's auto-updater is wanting to install silverlight.
What is it? and should i let it?
i checked microsofts website but im still not real sure.

It is proprietary Microsoft crap that is intended to be competition for Flash and Quicktime. Like the others, it does not conform to accepted standards.

It will never find a place on my systems.

Shoot, I even dumped quicktime when they started having security issues.
