Who has had the flue this year?

I have been dog a$$ sick for 2 weeks now. Flue turned sinus infection. Taking 875 mg. of Augmentin 2X per day for a week and still feel like crap! Now the wife has it. Could this turn into pneumonia? Anybody else this sick? I haven't been this sick in years, and I got a flue shot this year as I do every year. At my age 57 and hers 60, this can't be good for us.

Seems that way. Everybody in the band has had it. I think that is where I got it.

I only get the flu when I get a flu shot. No flu shot this year, no flu, despite my wife and two kids each getting mildly sick. Not to mention nearly everyone I work with/around.

I have not since '89, only time I ever got a flu shot. I can count on one hand the number of times I have been really sick in my entire life.

I had the same flu turned sinus infection this year. It took me over two weeks to get over it. Only the third time in my life I've ever had the flu (last time was fall of 1982). No flu shot.

Nah, the flu virus doesn´t stand a chance in the inoculation competition with all the viral infections I am constantly wading threw. At least 10-15 years ago last time.

Our house, office and daycare have been getting their asses kicked with flu, strep, etc. this year. Surprisingly i've dodged some serious bugs since i started drinking red wine with dinner several nights a week.

Oh, i don't do flu shots either.

Hmmmm...seems no flue shot vs flue shot is winning.

Work in a kindergarten or fly international during Christmas.

Snot every where is not fun

I got Flu Type B on the way back from LA this year ... I still can't figure out why I was shivering on the plane all the way home. Thank goodness I made it through the body heat sensors at Narita or I would have been sitting in quarantine

Nope, don't get the flu shots ... however I've only got the flu 2x in 38 years both times in Japan

Same here, rarely get sick. Get a cold from time to time but knock on wood, have not gotten the flu. Do not get the shots either...

One of, if not the worst flu season ever for me. I got a flu shot 30 days ago and have been sick ever since. It has never gone away, only ebbed and flowed. Last week was as sick as 3 weeks ago, fever+sleeping 12 hours a night, too sick to go anywhere socially. Sucks.

What's up w/ these flu shots? Can't say that the flu shot had anything to do w/ it, but it sure was a coincidence. Since I don't have a spleen, I'm supposed to get one every year. Last year was first year I got one, and it seemed to work. Wasn't sick. I think that this year I was already a little sick when I got it, and it triggered something in me(?)

Anyhow, woke-up a lot better this AM, can actually breathe. Started taking "Emergen-C" yesterday, but it's always hard to know if a cold medicine really works or if you were due to get better anyways. (Unless the effect of medicine is sudden and dramatic).

Haven't had the flu in years (although I'm battling a nasty cold & strep throat right now).

My chimney got a case of the "flue" badly though.

I didn't have the shot, but I got the flu. Sick as hell all last week, but feeling much better now. I got off easy, I think, but I stayed home and rested the whole time (golf trip on Thursday and I'll be damned if I'm missing that -- I was gunning for a quick recovery).

You probably already had the FLU (not FLUE) in your system. It takes about 2 weeks for the vaccine to work. If it was, the flu shot did nothing, may have made it worse, since it's a weakened, not dead, virus.

It can also take awhile after exposure for symptoms to appear. Doesn't happen right away.

And the shots are good for several months.

Me two - first my wife got it - she was out for three days - then I got it - and I know how I got it then we thought we dodged a bullet with the kids - two weeks later - my son gets it - he was out for an entire week - as soon as he starts feeling better - my daughter gets it - then two days later my oldest gets it - we were out of commission in one form or another for about three weeks -

You really haven't lived until you have one of your kids barf on you...
