Sicked the National Do Not Call Registry on a Company!
Call comes in, asks for my daughter, I say she's not here, can I take a message. Click, just hung up. Checked my caller ID, called back got an answering machine with company name, googled name it matches with the area code and prefix from my caller ID. Sent the company an email explained what happened and told them I was going to notify the FCC. Went on the National Do Not Call complaint website and turned them in.
Boy it feels good when I can eff up some companies day. If they just said, "We'll call back" or something like that I'd have never given it another thought.

Nice.
![]() The do-not-call list is one of the best pieces of legislation to ever come out of Washing-toon. My only wish is that it could be expanded to include political party representatives pushing their various agendas and that there could be one for regular mail too.

Hugh,
I've been doing this for more than 8 months. I'm sorry to report that although I receive a written notice of each of my complaints from the FCC, I still receive calls...many from the very same companies that I reported 6+ months ago! It seems to be an exercise in futility. I wish I could do something more aggressive to stop this invasion of my home. Jim S.

From The FCCs own website.
Consumers have private recourse against telemarketers that violate FCC telemarketing rules, including the Do-Not-Call requirements. Under federal law, consumers may file lawsuits against the violators in state courts, and they may be awarded $500 in damages or actual monetary loss, whichever is greater, for each violation. This amount may be tripled if the consumer is able to show that the telemarketer willfully and knowingly violated the FCC's Do-Not-Call requirements. linky: http://www.fcc.gov/eb/News_Releases/DOC-239488A1.html

Oh great, yeah like I'm going to file a small claims suit over this for a lousy $500.

If $500 is that unimportant to you, then please mail me $500. I could use it.

File court papers, spend a day in court. I make a lot more than that in a day.

My experience is that when I've reported DNC list violators I always get back a form letter saying I didn't provide enough info. The sad part is that I used the FCC's web site and filled in all the blanks that they requested. My telemarketing calls have increased significantly in the last couple of months. My guess is that companies are figuring out the the DNC legislation has not teeth.
