I'd pass on breakfast with OJ.

I hear he's a bit touchy these days.

depends on the orange. I have gotten 8 ounces from two oranges before.

Gonna have a ton of Mandarins this year, it looks like.

Pasteurization and oxidation both take a toll on flavor. Your fresh squeezed OJ will taste awful after a few days, particularly if it is in an uncovered container, or one with a lot of air space at the top.

I've never heard it adequately explained why EVERYTHING in the US is pasteurized. In my travels to Europe and New Zealand the yogurt, ice cream, milk, and other dairy products taste awesome! Same with the fruit juices. You don't often hear of people suffering ailments or dying there from lack of pasteurization. Is there a law in the US that everything must be pasteurized?

I have an avacado tree and lemon in my backyard, the avacados are "Fuertes" and the lemons make the best lemonade (the juice peels paint).

A 'Juice-O-Mat" works great for that quick OJ
Our house was the original ranch house back in 1947. It was lemon groves mostly, hence we live on Lemon Drive. When we moved into our home back in 1982 we had fruit trees galore. Unfortunately, the previous owner didn't tend to them and most didn't survive. We had to extract a lemon, apricot, and peach tree.

We also had two huge avocado that produced like crazy, but they were feeding fruit rats, and I reluctantly removed those too. Hated losing the fruit and shade, but can't stand vermin that takes one nibble out of each avocado. I used to take grocery bags of avocados to work and give them away.

So we are left with our orange tree and an apple tree that my parents planted. With my parents now gone, the apple tree is a nice reminder of good times.
