Montreal GP, June 6-8
I've never been to the Montreal GP... almost went last year but things fell apart last minute.
Anyway, I just booked my vacation... will leave work at noon on thursday and drive up. Reserved my old room at dad's house, and will commandeer his carrera cab for the weekend. Some threads from last year: OT: MOntreal Grand Prix MONTREAL Grand Prix F1 Get Together Anyone going to Montreal and the F1 this weekend??? So who's going this year? Zef? ![]() ![]() ![]()

According to Zef, they usually block off Crescent st for Porsches on one day of the race. The local Porsche club meets up and watches the GP from the bars and restaurants... I'm looking forward to that. Last year Joaska met up with them.
NICKG, you driving up or flying?

One of these days I'll get the old girl down for the Crescent St. lineup. Of course, I'll have to come a day or 2 early for chiropractic treatment so I can walk again, after spending 6 hours in a 35 year old recaro sport seat!

Every year I say I'm going to go for my birthday (the 6th), and every year I procrastinate.

We're all going up for your bday this year... it would be rude for you NOT to go! I already ordered the damn cake

Alright, you talked me into it. Can I sleep on the floor in your hotel room?

I just received my tickets in the mail today. I'm going with 4 buddies. From what I've read, grandstand 33 is one of the best views in all of F1, so I'm pretty excited. I doubt that I'll bring the 911 though, I don't think I can afford all the gas she would burn there and back!

Yeah I'm not even worried about tickets to the race. If I come across some, great. But I think I'd almost prefer to be on Crescent st... I'm more excited about the cars and hullabaloo than the racing itself.

T minus 15 minutes
Filled the car up with 115L of canola last night. Had hoped to get a co-pilot for the 9hr drive, but no dice. Also packed it up with tools this AM, tomorrow I'm doing engine & tranny mounts on Dad's Carrera, plus the oxygen sensor and head temp sensor. Look forward to meeting Syl & friends. If anyone else is up there for the weekend, PM me and we'll meet up for a tasty beverage. Breakfast at Cosmo's tomorrow AM.

Any word on whether Raikonnen is getting penalized for running into the back of Sutil?

How was that breaking the rules? I thought he did a pretty excellent job of keeping the car in control after losing it under braking and not making a bigger mess. Sutil was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
Hoping for a exciting GP, it's always fun when Macca and Ferrari are duking it out. Wouldn't mind seeing Kubica win this one for his shunt last year. Go Poland!
