Actually Scott, the question was posed if Porsche and VW group would get into F1, and the response was no (cost too much) and no (not at this time because of MMosley). Overall, they really have never had much interest in being there (vs say Ferrari), so their answer really was kind of scapegoating Mosley. A more likely explanation in terms of timing, is that since Schumacher is no longer winning races, German interest in the series is more subdued (and yes I know there are other Germans in the series). A more conspiracy theory might be that all germans dislike Mosley because of the way he's treated Mercedes McLaren. Who knows. But it's all just a pile of rationalizations other than Porsche doesn't really think they need to be in F1. Frustrating for those of us who like motorsports and heritage and maybe even better street cars. But that is the company today.

The FIA should be selling Max Mosely signature whips, leg irons, leather, condoms, and specially packaged Viagra. They would make a freakin' fortune.

On an unrelated note, I'd like to announce that I will not be joining the NBA because of the Isiah Thomas scandel.

U.S. politics is nothing BUT feigning outrage over some indiscretion (that the outraged most likely engages in as well). Then the outraged find some victims and trots them in front of the media, while simultaneously trying to establish credentials as a long-time advocate for the victims.

I think if he winds up broke over the scandal he should cash in with the liberal sex scene. A few thousand and a few adds in the Village Voice would allow him to soon buy a new yacht. He'd be a sophisticated Larry Flint.

As cool as it would be to have Porsche in F1, it'd be an absolutely idiotic business decision. The money involved alone is absurd and frankly, I have no idea how even the mighty Ferrari is able to continue to fund their team at the level it does. It's ego and bragging rights that translates into SOME sales, but certainly nowhere near the level needed to make an acceptable return on investment. From a business standpoint, Porsche is being smart. Remember, they damn nearly went under once in the 1980s - in no small part due to their outlays to fund racing.

I'd love to see it too, but this is simply grandstanding. Porsche is (right now anyway) being too "business smart" to see themselves stretched to the breaking point by an F1 presence.

Let's not forget that Porsche already proved themselves quite capable of building championship - both constructor's and driver's - winning engines back in the 80s. The TAG-Porsche 1.5L turbocharged engines were used by McLaren who went on to win the constructor's championship in 84 and 85 and the driver's title in 84, 85 and 86.
