Interesting read about the accident on Wiki

Driver survived, but with major burns to his face.

Old clip. He lives, but he was badly burned. He eventually sued the race organizers.

A career-ending wreck, with the driver roasting in 800-degree heat, and you're making jokes?

When are you going on vacation again? Not soon enough.

I'm not trying to say it was a funny video. But if you found it to be so offensive that it necessitates removal, you need to get out more...

Can you point out where I said it was funny? First I didn't research the event before posting. Second, if you want to be angry at somebody, the JAF might be a better target. I don't see too many cars bursting into flames (several at a time) in Europe or the US. If I feel that I need vacation advice I'll let you know.

One of my worst fears is being burned alive. You cannot comprehend the amount of pain. I burned myself at work on a 450 degree pan once on the skin between my thumb and index finger in college. It was so painful I got a headache, my whole arm felt like it was on fire and I couldn't concentrate. And that wasn't even a severe burn...

Watching that? Made my stomach turn.

Their safety crew is about 10,000 worse than the NHRA.

It was painful to watch.

The thread title indicated humor, or maybe not, it sure seemed like humor to me.

Mule, I am not angry at you, I have seen worse, I was flinching at what I anticipated would be a onslaught against you for making light of a serious accident that probably hits close to home for many here.

Ferrari Needs Cool Down Lap might be funny under different circumstances but certainly not these.

When I was around 8 our gas oven blew up while my mother was lighting it.

My brother and I were sitting in the den watching the tube and I remember it like it was 10 minutes ago.

My father burst in and grabbed us by our collars, one in each hand and ran and threw us in the back of the car.

my mother was already in the car screaming, my father tossed a bunch of wet towels to her as he jumped behind the wheel.

The sound of her skins sizzling from the wet towels is clear as day to me. And the smell. Horrible.

2nd and 3rd degree burns to most of her upper torso and face.

Somehow she came out of it without any scars, physical ones that is.

I saw it was a burn and hence didn't watch it. So I have to wonder about those of you who watched it and are offended- it was pretty obvious from the picture.

BTW my brother received 50% third degree burns and is mentally retarded as a result of a fire. A bar fight and he wasn't even involved. Another guy died, a dancer was horribly burned and a seamstress lost the use of her hands. Really bad night I'll never forget (I was outside waiting for him at the time and didn't know what was going on) and for sure he hasn't.

I spent years on the burn wards at Bethesda Naval while my brother recovered. Burns are terrible. But I don't think Mule meant any offense.

Didn't watch it.

I agree, I'm sure he meant no offense.

My point in pointing it out is it's hard to know what offends if one does not know what offends.

let's just say that "Ferrari needs a cool down lap" would tend to indicate something with humor involved. I'd probably put it in the "poor choice of words" category, although I get the feeling that if a dog was burned in a video and someone posted it with a similar jocular title he might have a different attitude about it.

I was not offended, I was just looking out for Mule, the humorous title with the video content was going to ruffle someones feathers surely not mine, but I was just giving him a heads up thats all.

I honestly thought it had something to do with Ferrari asking for preferential treatment during qualifying.

That's an old, oft-circulated video. When I saw the title of the post, and who the poster was, I knew exactly what the post was going to contain, before opening it. Predictable.
