I was raised a JW and I am not a total expert but here is goes as simple as possible, for my sake.

Adam and Eve were created along with a small paradise on earth. It was Gods intension for them to reproduce, and expand paradise throughout the earth.

Satan turned Adam and Eve causing them to sin, God handed over the Earth to Satan until a time when God will take it back and begin to restore paradise again and wife out death pain and suffering.

Through Christs sacrifice God gave man this hope. JW's do not believe they are going to heaven, but they do believe in heaven, a small group of the faithful will join God in heaven and help to rule mankind taking on an angelic form. 144,000 is the number the bible gives us.

The rest, called the great crowd, will be from all walks of life, no matter the religion, or if they believe in god. All will be forgiven and a second chance, per say, will be given.

For 1000 years God will resurrect the dead and restore the Earth to a Paradise once again, death will be no more. Man will live in a paradise as God initially intended.

Once the 1000 years is up Satan, who God had but into a Abyss will be released and set to roam the earth. At this time any who turn on god will be destroyed, no more chances.

Details like what food will be eaten, reproduction, and (most important to me) attire or lack thereof is not very clear and any guess would be a guess

That is sort of it in a nutshell.

Each person gets from their respective religion something different. I get that we are not here to judge, to say my religion is 100% perfect would be wrong, its run by men, they are not perfect and they make mistakes. Our religion has made "adjustments" over the years that I have been associated with it. Some were huge changes or mistakes but at least they are honest enough to say, Hey we messed up here and this is the corrected interpretation.

I was not offended at all, I was just pointing out that your statement was pretty off, I knew you did not mean it in a malicious fashion.

Todd, I will admit I know nothing about Buddhists and their teaching. My apologies for lumping them in with those Christians. :D

No truer words could be uttered, everyone that believes in god thinks they have the "correct religion" but who knows 100%? Every one of them be it a Mormon, JW, Jew, Catholic, Buddhist or any other religion think they are correct and the others wrong.

So true.

And, if you had the misfortune of being born in the wrong geographic place (since that is around a 90% determinant of what you will believe re religion), and you therefore believe in the wrong god, you will, in the words of Homer, just make the right god even madder.

Check back to this thread after the election. Regardless of the winner, many will say we are in hell.

The Morman's say that earth is hell. If your a good Morman you go on to a better place. If your not you stay here, forever.

Least thats what I understand.

/Not a Morman
// not trying to talk for them.

In my religion (and donīt you dare dismiss it!), I end up with virgin twins, sunny weather, free beer and a brand new Porsche GT3 in a grand villa right next to the Ring.

Anyone want to join my religion?

Jim Richards 04-25-2008 10:06 AM

I'm in!

The JW belief thing is hilarious. Makes the Catholic faith thing almost less unbelievable.
Guess I'm going somewhere warm, for the big dirt nap.

Milt don't ask stupid questions...by reading the bible and praying about it all your questions will be answered.

My summary was very brief and leaves out lots of detail and paints broads strokes but thats the gist of it.

I do not know why you find it so funny, God intended man to live in paradise on earth, it was derailed by Satan and the issue of Universal Sovereignty came into play. Satan challenged god and God being just has let Satan prove his point, that he can turn the entire world away from god and there will be no faithful left.

As long as there are people worshiping god there is hope for the earth.

Its up to God when to end this then we will go back to what was initially intended for man, to live in a paradise on earth forever.

Is it so unbelievable? According to the bible Adam and Eve were perfect and living in paradise before they sinned. Why would that plan be abandoned completely?

I do not like religious debate especially online where people that are normally polite are rude. We can agree to disagree but to dismiss someones beliefs as comical is kind of insulting. I wouldn't tell a Buddhist or Mormon that nor would I tell a Catholic that. I like to live by the golden rule.

Jims5543 04-25-2008 12:46 PM

Milt - You are asking a question about hell, Mt answer is I do not believe in Hell, or anyplace where your soul goes to suffer. I answered your question. You mentioned JW's in your initial post so I told you what JW's believe.

No one suffers, everyone is resurrected and given a second chance, no matter who they are. If you ask me if Hitler would be given a second chance I would answer its not for me to decide its up to God. I can only control my own destiny, and hope I may be able to influence (notice I did not say MAKE) others to do the same. Lead by example.

The educated elite must remind you on a regular basis how stupid you are, and how smart they are.

Didn't you know man?
