So what's a 10?

IMO Godfather is a 10.

I was never a big Ironman fan but I think I remember Tony Stark was an arms manufacturer taken prisoner and he built the first Ironman suit whilst he was supposed to be working on something for his captors, the suit was not only his means of escape but also help his bad heart. He later painted it gold to make it less frightening to the public and then built the mk 2 lightweight version we are more familiar with. Looking forward to the film. The other Marvel superhero to film I really enjoyed was Dr Strange, even if it flopped.

I just read the IMDB review and learned something new. Tony Stark was originally based on Howard Hughes.

I took my nephew (4 years old) and my youngest daughter (10 years old) to see it yesterday. All three of us loved the movie. I recommend it, David

Great movie. A few subtle references to the next movie and War Machine as well.

Be sure to stay after the credits.

SPOILER ALERT

I've never read the comic, but by your description I would say they nailed the plot. What you describe is basically what happens in the first part of the movie.

A group of us saw it last night. I thought it was really entertaining. Not a lot of emotional connection, but really good for a straight forward "good times" action movie.

Thumbs UP!

I went and saw it last night. It was fun, I'd say a 7.

And directed by Jon Favreau. I thought that was kind of neat.

Oh, and was Gwyneth Paltrow in it? I didn't really notice. Just like K.B., this chick kept blocking my view.

let's see, lions for lambs, redacted, stop loss, and a dozen others, all spectacular failures.

iron man, a movie where an american slaughters taliban type villains without any moral whining is a 100 million dollar success.

wonder if hollywood will get the message

Wow! I'm surprised it took until page 2 for someone on Pelican OT to make this a political / liberal bashing thread.

Back to Iron Man.

Robert Downey Jr. was freakin' awesome. One problem I had with it was that every once in a while it looked like an Audi advertisement. The endorsement angle was a bit obvious.

And Burger King, that was the most obvious to me. The kids even picked up on it and led to a 'product placement' discussion on the way home.

What was the song that plays at the end?
