Crappy Mothers Day

Mothers Day is probably never going to be a great day for my wife, but this year sucks. On sat. we got a bill from the hospital for the twin that we lost last year.

After thirteen months they send the bill and it gets here the day before Mothers Day!
I know that they did not plan that, but it still sucks. On top of that they said he had no insurance, and they want the money by the 26th of May.

I know I can get the insurance part straight, but it is still going to be a pain in the a$$.

Sorry I just need to vent.

*******s.

Sorry.

We lost a daughter at birth.

No bill.

Even the funeral home provided services gratis.

My father passed 2 years ago.

He had a Dr.s appointment scheduled for the next day which he obviously missed.

THey called asking where he was, we told them that he passed. They said we should have called and told them he would not make the appointment. They had his credit card on file and processed it.

Some people are just heartless Fuchers.

Holy crap! Unbelievable. I would be tempted to visit the doctors office personally and discuss their billing practices in a very public manner. (Polite, but loud enough for the folks in the waiting room to hear)

Man I'm really sorry to hear that peppy. That's hard enough to deal with without having that reminder. I guess you can try and turn it into a reminder to cherish those that are still with us.

It does seem to be your calling. But, there is a job for EVERYONE.

Im sorry to hear about the loss of your child Peppy. It is tough sometimes this life, and I couldnt comprehend that loss other than to send my condolences.

Regarding the bill, my advice is to call the hospital business office on Monday and request to set up a payment plan. No way any legit hospital would not do this.

Call the office and tell them you expect a full refund or you plan to call the local TV station. Most news stations have an "on-your-side" reporter I'm sure they'd love the free publicity. I'd go so far as to pay for a half page ad in the local paper to advertise for them.

Take a TV reporter along when you do this...I would NOT bother to warn the hospital...they deserve all the eggs that will then be tossed their way.

It's also possible the doctor relies on a billing service and has no idea that they processed your card in this situation. At least try to discuss it personally before bringing in the TV reporters.

No TV or anything like that, it was just bad timing.

This is rich... We had one bill us for a missed appt. This was the wrong thing at the wrong time as I was already a little miffed at this office form some previouos appts. I drove to their office and handed the business manager an envelope. She opened it at the main desk in the waiting room and started laughing and asked me what it was I handed her. I explained to her, loud enough that all in the room could hear, that this was a bill for my services. It covered 10 hours at my hourly rate that covered the time accumulated while I sat in their stupid office after my scheduled appt for my son (this place was the worst for this fairly commonplace overbooking). I told her I would be happy to pay the charges for the missed appt as soon as I received a check from them covering my time. She was pissed, but dropped the argument quickly.

On a side note... at the next visit, the doc (who we actually really liked) gave us a big thank you. He said he had been so frustrated with the way the office was being run lately. He shared the same thing a few docs in my family have complained about to me a few times - that they get frustrated with the business side of being a doc... but it is hard for them to concentrate on being a good doc if they have to be a good business manager too.

To the original poster - I hope your day and week go better

I can't even imagine peppy, really I can't. The timing couldn't have been worse, definitely salt in the wound. Sorry and condolences, not that it makes it hurt any less.

Agreed... that's beyond low. Something that should be known to the general public so people can keep that in mind when they choose who to do business with.

One phone call and all is straight with the billing error. The only problem was they wanted to talk to my wife because it was her insurance. I was able to talk the lady at the hospital out of that bad idea.

Thanks for all the well wishes.
