Indiana Jones

Just watched it. Give it a 2/5 stars. Fun but lots of holes in plot and story and Indy is looking a little bit old. Certianly does not have the punch of the others.

It was entertaining, but not as exciting or deep as the earlier ones.

HF looked old how about poor old Marion/Karen Allen? I'd give it a 3 out of 5 for tic appeal.

Just got back from it. Not bad, but certainly not as much "wow" factor as the others.

I think Ford might have one more in him, if that. Please tell me they don't try to stretch the series on more than that (this comment will make more sense once you see the film).

Fun movie, but in a "junk food for your brain" kind of way.

Very disappointed. Indy in a walker.... I will say casting Karen Allen was brave!

She is a heavy smoker and it shows. She was a cutie when younger but smoking this crap has aged her a lot in the last 15 years.

Saw it last night. I liked it a lot. Yeah, Harrison is older, no question.

I think the punch that it has lost is more about the fact that the audiences are twenty years older thanthey were the last time they saw this character/premise and we've seen a LOT of CG special effects in the intervening years. I'd recommend seeing it.

P.S. I liked that they cast Karen Allen instead of the usual ridiculousness of casting a too young heroine. Like the did with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones in...? Can't remember the title but the very idea was ridiculous.

Entrapment.

Was sean connery in that movie? All i seem to remember is laser beams and Catherine Zeta slithering.

The Russian Commies are calling for the new Indy movie to be banned there.

too bad it is getting bad reviews...still did very well opening at the box office.

Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile) was originally hired to do the screenplay, and spent a year on it. Lucas replaced him though and did the script himself. Darabont was pissed about that

“It was a tremendous disappointment and a waste of a year,” Darabont told MTV. “It showed me how badly things can go. I spent a year of very determined effort on something I was very excited about, working very closely with Steven Spielberg and coming up with a result that I and he felt was terrific. He wanted to direct it as his next movie, and then suddenly the whole thing goes down in flames because George Lucas doesn’t like the script.”

“I told him he was crazy. I said, ‘You have a fantastic script. I think you’re insane, George.’ You can say things like that to George, and he doesn’t even blink. He’s one of the most stubborn men I know.”

later...backed off a little bit and was all hollywood gracious...

Indy is actually getting pretty good reviews, from what I have seen.

I liked the movie, didn't love it. I feel like it was probably the least of the four Indiana Jones movies; that being said, the movie was great fun, and actually worked pretty great - lots of action and lots of laughs - until...

!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!

... until Shia LeBouf (or whatever his name is) starts swinging from the vines like Tarzan. I can put aside my disbelief in an Indiana Jones movie, but this was a little too much. Some people didn't like the buried-alien-spaceship ending, but really - it was no more outlandish than most of the stuff that went on in the other 3 movies. Besides, if you consider the fact that the original 3 movies were meant to be parodies/homages to 1930s pulp novels/comics, the fact that the new one, taking place in the 1950s, has flying saucers mixed in with the Red Scare and nuclear paranoia... it's pretty perfect. It would almost be blasphemy if this movie, taking place in the late 50s, DIDN'T have something about flying saucers.

3/5 stars, if you ask me.

Agreed. The setting was good and the references to "atomic America" and McCarthyism are right on the money, but the "swinging from the vines" thing was simply ridiculous. Pure gratuitous excuse to use stupid CGI effects, which is a trend of the last 10-15 years of movies that I utterly can't stand. Psychic stuff? Extra-dimensional beings? Alien spaceships in Peru? Gimmee a break. I know Speilburg is known for over-the-top fanciful plots and trying to fuse them with realistic scenarios, but this one just seemed really contrived and forced to me.

George Lucas is the king of unneeded CGI effects.

I heard one critic tonight that said George Lucas should never be allowed to write another script ever again. LOL.

Maybe you should just go see Iron man again. That movie was brilliant.
