Told Wife I Terminated a Biz Relationship Cuz Customer (she) Wanted More...

Last night my wife asked why I haven't done more work for a female CEO who I was ghostwriting for. I told her I didn’t want to have anything to do with that woman - the relationship was becoming potentially dangerous.

"What do you mean?"

"I was left with the impression the last time we spoke that she wanted to hook-up. I didn't feel comfortable and I didn't see how I could continue the business relationship with that hanging over my head."

"Why didn’t you tell me?"

"What, I'm supposed to tell you every time I get hit on?"

"Does it happen a lot?"

"I don't know. It happens I just don't tell you because it would only make you suspect that I cheat on you or I'm having an affair."

"Well you didn't tell me this so how can I trust you now?"

"Because I didn't do anything wrong expect for not telling you something that you would just freak over."

Yup, she’s pissed...

So, I guess I’m doomed if I do and doomed if I don’t. Ya, I know I should tell her everything always yadda yadda yadda

I thought you had more sense, Mike. What on earth compelled you to share with your wife that another woman was hitting on you? She's supposed to be impressed that you said "no"? You work outside the home and travel frequently. The LAST thing your wife needs is to be home wondering who's hitting on you.

Isn't that funny? You can't win for losing. Good decision to leave the female CEO alone. Nothing good could have come from mixing business with her pleasure.

In similar situations I steal a line from that 70s show when some young thing was hitting on Red and Kittie was all mad. Red turned the situation around to be flattering to Kittie by saying something to the effect that Kittie knew when she married Red that he would be subject to a certain amount of female attention (at this point he raised himself up so he looked like a bantam rooster) and that was to be expected, because she picked such a fine physical specimine such as him, but that she was the one for him and was more than a match for any woman who would fall for Red's good looks and try to charm him from Kittie.

I guess the only way out would have been to say that you don't get hit on much, and that you didn't tell her about that one before because you didn't want her to worry. Tell her she wouldn't want to be married to someone who never attracted any attention from the oposite sex.

It's done. She will see the better side of this once she thinks it over. Meanwhile, let it die; say no more, treat it like a nothing and it will become a nothing.

Many, many times in my life I have shared stories with other men about certain women's reactions to certain events and conversations where at the end of the story, the other guy and myself are both looking at each other, shrugging shoulders, wondering what the heck went wrong. This is one of those.

Lube's wife could come away from this with one or the other of two conclusions:

1) My husband isn't going to mess around behind my back, even when some woman hits on him and he's got the perfect opportunity to mess around.

2) Other women hit on my husband.

Why in the world would she choose #2? First, she should have known this already. People try to seduce other people. Fact. The NEW information.......the RELEVANT information........is #1.

You stupid, stupid man.

"What do you mean?"
Oh *****, abort!

"I was left with the impression the last time we spoke that she wanted to hook-up. I didn't feel comfortable and I didn't see how I could continue the business relationship with that hanging over my head."
You should have told her she's into crack.

"Why didn’t you tell me?"
Right here, you should have stabbed yourself with the nearest sharp object to change the topic.

"What, I'm supposed to tell you every time I get hit on?"
Wrong answer.

"Does it happen a lot?"
NO.

"I don't know. It happens I just don't tell you because it would only make you suspect that I cheat on you or I'm having an affair."
Cheat.....affair......bad choice of words.

"Well you didn't tell me this so how can I trust you now?"
You're so screwed.

"Because I didn't do anything wrong expect for not telling you something that you would just freak over."
Lets not bring logic into this.

Yup, she’s pissed...

So, I guess I’m doomed if I do and doomed if I don’t. Ya, I know I should tell her everything always yadda yadda yadda
Now you're making sense.
Total honesty with wife = unhappy life.

Because she is a WOMAN. Relevancy, logic.....they're meaningless. After hearing woman, hit-on, cheat, affair, she was seeing red. Lube would have been better off just throwing himself out the window.

Hmm, I would have told my wife and we would have laughed about it. I can't get behind any level of dishonesty in this regard. It happens, we all know it happens. My wife tells me and I'm glad she does. I do the same.

All people are different, but open and honest works for us.

If your wife isn't repulsive and doesn't tell you she is occasionally getting hit on......well I would be worried.

The biggest fight I ever witnessed between my folks was when my dad let it slip out during a long drive (I was not in the car at the time) that he'd paid a speeding ticket with a money order, first getting the cash out of an ATM, so my mom would not see the check entry in their checkbook register. This was before the Internet. My mom was beyond irate and I got wind of the whole thing the following morning when she declined my dad's usual Easter Sunday gift of a porcelain bunny rabbit for her collection. She was so angry that he'd not told her about the ticket. My dad's excuse was that the points, fine and insurance hit were punishment enough and he didn't need her beratement as further punishment. My mom asked me what I'd do and I said I'd have done the exact same thing. That didn't go over well.

Sucks. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I guess I should be glad the only woman in the world that finds me even remotely attractive/interesting is the one I'm married to already.

You too? I never seem to have these porno-esque moments in real life.

doesn't matter
he'll be abused anytime she feels like it

if he's a little right she'll change the issue mid-sentence and he'll be all wrong again.
