Yeah, If you think that is cool, I was thinking of putting a "squirrel cage" out of a 5ton a/c unit onto the top of my 2.7. Figured if I did this I could run it with a belt off the engine, and I could then build a mount to where I could use Chevy alternators...... of course I would paint the sheet metal gloss black so it looked bad a$$..... LOL

LOL, that's good.

Some of the feedback is funny.

From Mr. Brightside: "It Doesn't really work, No power gain. But Very Fast Shipping..."

Another one is apparently going to run a "twin turbo" with 2 of them!

It seemed like a silly idea at first, but since the air charge comes first and [u]then[/] the power it might be a slight improvement for small displacement engines in stop-n-go conditions.
Another benefit might be a faster restart for hybrids.

Remember the "self-powered turbocharger" turned into a turbine.

http://www.gizmag.com/electric-supercharger-promises-instant-power-boost/9364/2/
"For small engines to be effective in urban environments, they need near instant full torque availability for the driver demanding strong acceleration. Such responsiveness is essential to avoid fuel being unnecessarily wasted because the driver must continually select low ratio gears in order to keep up with traffic flow."

It was new to the Gizmag website, and could possible be picked up on by major manufacturers. We'll wait and see (mabye indefinitely).
There are a lot of good ideas floating around that have yet to be put into production, mostly because major corp's need to sell the last generation to recover previous development costs and the public is resistant to expensive change.

The idea was poo-poo'ed left and right here in PPOT as a quack-job, but with changing transportation technology there may turn out to be a viable application for it. Sometime it take putting the cube into the square hole the right way.
Tesla tried to get the British government to develop his theory of radar long before WW2, and they laughed him out the door untill London started becoming more "horizontal".

Plus, I like to watch hubris in action.

"Energy cannot be created or destroyed" (except in nuclear/relativitistic transformations from matter -> energy and vice-versa). Once one of these scammer clowns figures out a way around that, I'll take it seriously.

There might be SOME merit to "banking" power parasitically (such as with batteries) in order to provide an extra "kick" for intermittent extra power, but the net result will always be a loss.
