Dipso, can you please post a few pics of your Peru Red 75? My 75 is also Peru Red but is badly faded.

thanks

If, big IF, "S" prices stay where they are at or hopefully keep rising Shaun will make money off this car. Like was pointed out on the tech thread, I don't think you can do this restoration for $40K. Probably more like $60K and to get your money back, that work will have to be flawless. Good luck with it!

I think once it's disassembled and sandblasted, stuck on a rotisserie, and you plan your metalwork, it will look much more doable to the naysayers. Good luck with it shaun!

Rarely do any restorations of old vehicles make financial sense.... If it did, there would far more shops doing them. The best one can typically hope for is that the purchased components are are close to the finished value. For a hardcore DIY type this can be accomplished with some fun and challenging scrounging and deal making.

If one has to pay for the labor involved it is probably NEVER smart to do moneywise. That said, anyone can buy a restored car.... very few can do the work themselves. I personally take great satisfaction and pride in every old vehicle I have restored and never intend to sell any of them..... they are treasures to me and are worth far more to me than anything that I might buy that someone else restored.

Once stripped down, that car will be a bit more work than some other 911 restorations/,back-dates or replicas that we all appreciate on the tech forum, but it is really not all that different.

I am sure that I could restore that car for under 40k worth of expenses if I chose to do so.

Weird how so many of our fellow brethren are naysayers. Why stop someone from restoring one of the rarest of 911's just because YOU wouldn't do it? He's willing and motivated, and I think we should support him. In fact, I think I just donated to the cause by purchasing some H4's from him.

It's too late to back out now, too many haters!
I for one am looking forward to the restoration thread on this puppy.

Good luck!

Start with a large roll of sheet metal and an English wheel.

OK, it's not that it can't be done. It's that that Shaun's already trying to finance and run a startup e-company. He knows this is a bad idea and a total time-bandit that he doesn't need.

I think he's insane, but if he can pull it off more power to him. . .

It'll never be financially viable though. As long as he knows that going in, fine enough.

Personally I think that car has WAAAAAAAY too much rust to be salvageable but what the hay. . .

I had a 72T I wish I hadn't let go for $1000, and it was in much better shape than this.

Sigh....

Looks like it was from June 7, 2008.

Are you from the future?
