ahhhh. summer... means we get summer interns.
i got to work at 6:30 this morning. had some paperwork cooking on my desk, and i needed to get the ball out of my court ASAP. done. took a walk around the office, and what do i see? two of our new interns, THAT STARTED YESTERDAY, sitting next to each other, with chairs leaned back, feet on their desks just chatting away. i walked by and asked, "are you comfortable?". one guy replies, "yes, thank you!".
my boss hired 3 kids from the same rugby team. i will get zero work from them. crap, i busted arse during my internship. they made me run an overlay (road)crew. if i get lung cancer, it will be because of that summer.

Whats your business?
I like your elegantly ironic comment (probably wasted, but still): Are you comfortable? ![]()

Interns are best when they are of the young female type.
Still no work gets done (from anybody) because everyone is staring at them with google eyes. Sure is fun ![]()

Good point!
I was just to shy to ask the obvious question: IF your going to have useless interns hanging around the shop - why the heck would anyone choose men?? ![]()

we have an intern here who is friggin' outstanding. He's putting the FTE's to shame... work completed on time, great quality and when he's done his stuff he is actively looking for something to fix or help with.
We're hoping to poach him from marketing, but I think we're 3rd or 4th in line. Everybody wants to hire him

I've been working in my mom's office the last two winter/spring breaks. Everyone is always amazed at how much work I get done. I am always amazed at little the salaried workers get done and how minimal their actual skill sets are.
Right now I am glad that I am still caddying...the full time internship begins next summer.

Ugh.
For the record, I don't want to see any pictures of Rugby players--men or women. In my job, it's hard to break work into small enough chunks to give to an intern and make it meaningful. We had our intern last summer write us some testware as it wasn't critical and could be done in a summer and bypass the whole project methodology (which slows work to a grind).
