Youtube is pretty neat, we use it to put little snippets of the kids on (no names used), so relatives, friends, etc. can see from anywhere. Would be neat to have it on the phone for broadband, mobile showing-off!

Start/ Settings/ Voice Speed dial

Then look at the bottom of the screen for the application tab.(tap in) ...if google maps is loaded. it wide be listed among the other apps. you can record a voice-tag for any of the apps... just like you would for a voice speed dial.

here is a graphic of where you should make the settings. pic from the Touch (xv6900)

Very useful! ...The tough part is remembering what you called the command.

Unlike the 6900, the 6800 has a dedicated voice command button. -nice.

Look around. If it is Windows Mobile, you should be able to view you-tube vids. If not, you should be able to find a program that will work.

working ok. I'm just not great with these kinds of things. I need to print out the 168 page manual from the CD and look through it.

I am so behind the times, things and phrases that are common knowledge to vet smart phone users are greek to me.

I need to try to make it work with my e-mail at work tomorrow. But I also want it to be able to access a g-mail account. I assume I can have both?

I tried taking some pictures with it, did a few, but now I can't get it to take pictures anymore! I must have hit some wrong button.

I'm also a little disappointed that many websites are not fully functional when used on a mobile. I'm sure everyone knew that, but I didn't!

Don't be too hard on yourself, there is a lot to learn on these devices.

Syncing to your work computer/email should be easy.
G mail, I don't know. FWIW http://www.exchange2007.com/2008/01/wm6-gmail-play-nicely.html

Just thought of this post. I use gotomypc to browse from my phone on my main desktop via a linkup. It's very fast this way as your main computer is doing the work and allows absolutely complete browsing ability. The picture is excellent too.

It really sounds like you should consider an internet device(no phone)... for example: the Nokia N810 has a slide-out key board and a screen that is 2.5x more pixels than the iphone.

fwiw I've written this post with handwriting, cursive, with just my fingernail as a stylus. -the same way I respond to emails on my HTC touch, and as I did with the the old XV 6700. Keyboards are sooO last year.
OK, your post in the other thread to this thread piqued my curiosity.

You have/had a Q1 and a N810. Do you regularly use them? I've gone from an Archos 605 to a Q1, which I just sold. I'm looking at the N810 now (or possibly an N800). I loved the Q1, but found that I just never picked it up when I went out because of it's size. the Archos was carried all the time, but it's wireless was weak, and had no keyboard. The N810 seems like what I'm looking for.

How do you like yours, how does it compare to the Q1 (on a purely user level, not spec-wise). Do you still carry either?

Monday I gave away the N800 (family member, to Skype from Paris). I simply have too many similar toys. For most of what the N800 does, I have my phone (HTC Touch).

For travel, the Q1 rocks. Minimal size and weight, Music and videos for the plane, internet for the ground, and a place to store and review/edit gigabytes of photos. Also, the Q1 has a great screen, LED backlited, and the handwriting input makes for fast text input. --tho' I had to relearn cursive.

The N810 is certainly a step up from the 800. You gain GPS (but lose the FM radio --no biggie if you have internet) Also, the 810 screen seems a bit nicer (same res, but a harder first surface.) I'm too slow with the thumb keys, but still, they are beter than screen thumb-keys.
