or be like you, and rather than calling a spade a spade, you call a spade a bicycle, and put your head back in the sand until the problem goes away on its own

![]() I find his show compelling mostly because the early morning guests often make watching the show worthwhile. The list of recurring guests have been great: The late Tim Russert, Tom Friedman, Pat Buchanan, Betchloss, Doris Goodwin, Dick Gregory, Joe Lieberman etc. After listening to him interview Buchanan on his latest book, Churchill, Hitler, and "The Unnecessary War": How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World I was so enthralled with his historical perspective I bought the book and it is great. If the guest doesn't appeal to me, I change the channel. Was his comment racist? I don't think so mainly because I have listened to him over the past months and believe he was being sarcastic...he has gone out of his way to discuss stereotyping from both minority and white perspectives. That is my opinion....others may have a different take but I frankly don't care. What scares me more than anything is the rush to accuse someone who, while it may have not come off as intended, was exercising a fundamental right.

I enjoyed him for some of the same reasons seahawk mentioned. I didn't like the show when it was simulcast and lost interest at that point, since retiring, I have found more productive things to do at that time of the day but he was good for passing drive time into the office, certainly better than Howard Stern. He was really bad in the early days of Billy Sol Hargus and Little Red Riding hood but most who as complaining that he is a jackass or loudmouth were in diapers then. At my age, I do what I want, listen to what I want and don't spend any time or attention on those that don't agree with me, life is way too short. What intrigued me about Imus is that he got some very good interviews with intelligent people, if he was such an ********* as many here seem to feel, he never would have gotten the interviews, especially on radio. Oh and Sharpton and Jackson are ********* jerks as well. |

He and his young wife both have good hearts; they run their kids with cancer ranch (ALL color of kids!) and his wife focuses on a lot of worthwhile charity causes. He's a bright guy who's crotchety/cranky/outspokenness is his shtik, sometimes funny, sometimes, well... change the channel or go back to sleep. I happened to be watching when he came out with his "knappy headed ho" comment and remember thinking, uh, oh, you may have really stepped in it this time I-man! Too bad he was railroaded like he was. There are others who deserved it much more than he did.

here is an example of your head being in the sand It is pretty much common knowledge that the majority of African American children born in this country are to single parent homes. This is one of the many things that are pointed to as contributing to the "problem"

I'm not about to dispute that, but have all these women been "abandoned" or are a significant number of them "knappy headed ho's" on welfare wif no edumacation or gumshun, an' don' even know who the father is?I think your statement, as you put it, if made by a politician would be considered loaded and provoke a similar response to Black's. Or do you have your head in the sand?
