It also is #2 in NRA members(last i heard). And our state connie has a pre-emption clause as well, to keep the leftist cities in line.

So far as i know, to transfer a handgun between non family members requires a background check, and must be done by a FFL or gun shop.

It might be a state thing in PA then. The feds are silent on it for intra-state deals. The only gun I ever sold in PA was to a college buddy who was a Philly cop by then, so we didn't bother going to an FFL.

Masraum, I ignore all No Firearms signs unless it's a government bldg. or I see a metal detector. Although in VA, you can carry in state bldgs., DMV and even he state capitol. In AZ and VA those signs do not have the force of law and you can only get in trouble if someone spots you printing, asks you to leave and you refuse, and even then it's only trespassing. In OH, however, it's a felony and those signs are everywhere. Normally, I view those signs as requests that I take my business elsewhere and that's what I do. But in OH they're ubiquitous. It's almost like their CCW law means nothing because the state encourages businesses to ban it. I had to stop to take a leak at a grocery store near the police station for the gun buy-back. They had a large No Firearms sign on the door. I ignored it, walked up to the wart-faced hag of a rent-a-cop, my P220 concealed in the small of my back, and gingerly asked her where the men's room was. She was polite and unsuspecting.

Unless it starts out saying 30.06, read it more carefully.

Most of them say something like "Unlicensed carry of a firearm is subject to...blah blah blah". I am licensed, no problem.

The 2 things we have to watch for in Texas, the "51" sign and the "30.06" signs. The 51 means that the establishment makes 51% or more of it's income with Alcohol, and you can't carry there.

The "30.06" has to be specifically made, in English and Spanish, or it does not carry the weight of law. They could ask you to leave, but that is it. They also have to know you are carrying, which they shouldn't, or you are breaking the law as well.

Most states allow FTF - "Face to Face" transfer between residents. California is NOT one of those states.

I saw one of "those signs" last Sunday at a gas station outside of Dayton. It said something like "State Law prohibits the possession of firearms at this facility... blah blah blah". Ohio sucks...sorry, I didn't mean that, I love Ohioans!

I was in Cleveland last week. Between you guys and me, I always ignore those signs in OH. I have heard that businesses that ban guns are liable for your personal responsibility though. So, if a situation arose in which you were disarmed because of their sign and then became a victim of crime on their property, you could sue.

Here the sign of choice looks like a CZ75 in a circle with a line through it. We take it to mean as long as you're not carrying one of them you're ok.

Ha ha! Unfortunately, that's an excellent gun and is on my shopping list. I guess I'll have to stick to SIG's and 1911's for carry duty to comply with those anti-CZ signs. I hope they never ban Czech beer.

I never really warmed up to the CZ75. I think if they had been more 'importable' in the '70's they would have had greater acceptance. Time (and fashion) seems to have left their design behind, excellant though it was.

So if a law abiding citizen wants to sell his gun to another law abiding citizen, in PA you have to go to a gunshop and get a background check?

And you call this "good gun laws??"

The guy with the mustache and baseball hat that says no gangbangers will be turning in their guns is the guy they interviewed next to my bike, which you can't see to his left. I was standing right behind the cameraman for that. Oh, and the reporter who interviewed him didn't even show up until about two hrs. after we did. She totally missed the more than 15 junk guns we saw middle aged white folks turning in just to get rid of them. Some of the guys in the background on camera there turned in some guns too for the grocery gift cards which they then used to buy guns from others when the cops ran out of gift cards!!!!! No gang bangers were there at all, just folks who had guns worth far less than the $100 gift cards they got for them from the cops.

We even told this reporter that WE had been scooping up some guns before they got to the cops, both before and after the cops ran out of gift cards. Of course, no mention of that in this report because that might make it sound like this buy-back wasn't the resounding, crime-fighting success they want sheeple to think it was. Of all the events I've personally attended that I later saw reported falsely in the news (and that's a lot of them), this one had to take the cake. I just cannot believe how much they crafted and manipulated this story when the whole event was the biggest joke. All the cops you see in the video except for the uniformed one were the ones we hung out with and told us they also thought it was silly. Gee, no mention of that in this report either. No mention of the cops chasing me away for doing what plenty of others were doing to defeat this nonsense.

Ok, I watched CBS NBC & then ABC. All stories were completely different than what our "intrepid" reporter Rick has to offer. All stories were presented as a resounding success for "buy backs". "They ran out of gift cards" was the common theme. No talk of crap guns, low turn-out or lack of gang members was mentioned.

"Printing" is the outline/bulge of the gun through your clothing.

FFL = Federal Firearms License. This is the license which permits one to sell/transfer firearms. Kinda like a "liquor license" for gun shops.

I'm all for folks exercising their right to own guns. I think it's sad that folks feel so scared that they need to carry a gun. It ain't the wild west no more but then I don't live in AZ either. I'm starting to wonder if it's a good idea to go there for vacation these days...
