The U.S.A. is Dead
When will it happen?
What will it look like? Will there be a "final, cataclysmic straw" that bankrupts our economy overnight or a long slow death so subtile it won't even make headlines?

It's just a slight cold, thank you. Take some nyquil and call the doctor in the morning.

I was waiting for you guys. Just an interesting (to me) discussion. A lot of good, interesting thoughts in the other thread. With the pump primed, just looking for more from the Pelican Braintrust.
I will say that the: 1. Energy 2. Credit 3. Housing crises all coinciding is very interesting. Of course there is no master plan to kill the U.S.A., but I find the confluence of the 3 fascinating.

Eventually, foreign interests will have significant equity (ownership) interest in most of our important industries and businesses. With ownership of our important and critical industries comes political power.

There is a funny moment when they show the pictures of the ship's captains over the decades...and they get fatter and rounder. Kinda mirrors the obesity rates in the US. Not that they did that on purpose ![]() I recall the words of Dean Wormer: "fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son" The US has become fat, drunk and stupid. Slow death, disintegration of the middle class, standard of living decrease for all but the upper 1% of the population. Eventual global depression leading to revolt in a number of "civilized" countries. Not that I'm a pessimist or have dystopian glasses on. I think it can come around, but people have to realize there is a problem. I still see too many people oblivious or saying, "it's the media's fault..." |

This sentiment is a sign that it's nearing a good time to invest in the USA.
As Sir John Templeton once said (to paraphrase) "the best time to sell is at the moment of maximum optimism and the best time to buy is at the moment of maximum pessimism". I think the moment of the latter is close at hand. ![]() Best, |

I have 1500 of .223, 1000 of .45 ACP and 1000 of .40 S&W.
I dunno guys. I can't really disagree that our empire is on the decline. But it's not a bad place to live, all things considered. I've got a few passports full of stamps from countries I'd not want to live in for more than a vacation or so. Sure, I'm irate at the direction of things in the U.S. and probably more so because it's totally reversible, but likely won't happen. I'll just do the best I can and keep smelling the roses while Rome burns.

Obviously the slide has already begun - your lack of wisdom is appalling.

The end will be when liberalism/socialism takes over completely. Or the Chinese. Whichever first.

I predict the end of the USA will come some time about the year 2100 or so, with the founding of a continental, or perhaps world government.
Of course the various states of Europe would share the same fate, and are already much farther down that road with the EU. |
