My real answer is "No, but I should".

Too many dollars on too much crappy, overpriced, not especially good for you but it is convenient, lunches. I do not eat "fast food"- no McDonald's, etc but small local places don't serve much better food in terms of nutritional value etc. And its too easy to eat bad and too inconvenient to eat right for many of us. Just my $.02.

Sometimes I bring lunch. What I really wish is if we had a BBQ grill here at work. Out in the lot, grilling some beef ribs...yum!

I'm weird.

I need my food "fresh"

I am well aware that if I go to a deli in the morning and get a sandwich to have for lunch it'll most likely be the same loaf of bread and hunk of meat as if I go at lunchtime and get the same thing.

In other words it won't be any fresher but I still prefer to have it made when I'm ready to it eat.

Have a small refrigerator and a microwave here since I can't close for lunch. If I haven't eaten by 1 I wait for supper.

i brown bag it.

am working in burbank now. dull as hell city, and expensive too. plus, i'm not leaving my 60 degree bunker office to wander around the valley in july just to get some crap fast food.

sometimes we get lunch delivered. but getting my co workers to coordinate and agree on any meal is a tremendous pain.

Sometimes. More so these days. I actually went to Trader Joe's last night and stocked up on some stuff to have around here so I don't have to go anywhere at lunchtime ($$$).

Honestly, the biggest reason I sometimes need to get out of here is simply to get out of here and give myself a change of scenery. It's not that I think any of the dining options around here are very good (in fact, they're downright terrible). There's a park nearby (unfortunately not quite walking distance though) so sometimes I just drive up there, crack my lunch open and chill for a half hour or whatever. Beats either eating at some fast food schithole or looking at these same four walls continuously.

I work close to my parents. I usually go there for a fresh cooked lunch! Mom still spoils me!

Almost always. I eat out almost every Friday with friends from work (it's our routine), but it is rare for me to buy my lunch at work. In the winter, I probably average taking my lunch to work 4 days a week. In the summer, probably 3 days, but I go out to real restaurants those two days.

Funny story.

The food at our work cafeteria is atrocious. Eurest runs the cafeteria and almost everything is boiled: chicken, turkey, beef, pork, vegetables (to a light-greenish mushy mass). What isn't boiled is deep fried. We've had a running joke for years that all food must be run through the "de-flavorizer" before it is served.

Fast forward to this Sunday. I'm out at Gil's Country Inn with the local PCA bunch. It's very good food for very cheap. Half a chicken, mashed potatoes, homemade apple sauce, a salad, fresh dinner rolls, a slice of pie and a beer will run you $7. I had the prime rib ($14). They literally walk the cattle, pigs, and chickens live into the back of the restaurant...

So anyway, I'm sitting across from this couple that I've never met. The guy kind of looks like Jim Brewer--he's got that perpetually stoned/out-of-it look. The wife is a bleached-blond with big hoop earrings, big hair, and multiple gold chain necklaces and bracelets. I was thinking "Corvette owners" when I saw them.

I strike up a conversation. Guy mentions he is a professional chef. I ask where. Turns out he is the head chef (a loose term, I'm sure) IN MY BUILDING. (Funny, my wife's building has much better food though it is run by the same company.) I have now met the reason I brought my lunch for the past 8 years. Seeing as I had no where to go in the conversation without getting extremely negative very quickly, I changed the subject--I asked him what he drove. He has a 928, his wife has a Boxster.

I work for a vending company so I pretty much eat "in" for lunch. I spend a lot of time on the road visiting accounts so I can usually find a bite to eat. We actually have a good selection of healthy items and I try to choose those whenever possible. And, for the record, I don't eat a lot of candy.

Legion--Eurest is a division of our parent group, Compass. Our food division has several Chefs that have attended prestigious culinary institutes. Our dining room at Steecase in Grand Rapids is rated as a 4 star restaurant.

I'm sorry that the service at your office is that bad. Not that I can help but have you guys let any of the managers know that they have problems?

When we were first married, I used to go home for a happy meal...

Now its leftover pasta or meatball samiches - times change.

No. Most days I walk home(10 min) from the office and make a sandwich or warm up leftovers. Open the mail. Just like Ward Cleever. Some days wifey has it ready. Feed the cat. The ultimate "green" existence, little upstate NY town, perfect. I didn't even know I was on the cutting edge of societal evolution blah blah blah.

Yes, A Tina's Red Hot Beef Burrito for 50 cents, then a restroom purge and back to work.

I pack my lunch (or my wife does it for me) about half the time...Otherwise I get take-out from a variety of places near my work. Packed lunch is usually left-overs.
I prefer a packed lunch, saves money and time.

Jeez, you are getting a deal at .50!!!!

You obviously don't have vending machines at your shop.
