I don't think it's too much to ask to take 10% of your income and donate it to Save the Hummingbirds or build your own hummingbird sanctuary.

I have actually built my own hummingbird sanctuary. At least that's what they think...

I told a neighbor, "Hey, I went out and got me a hummer today!" The man looked at me in disgust, turned his back on me and walked away.
Now bear in mind this neighbor has TWO huge parrots, EACH of which eats a hummer's weight in sunflower seeds IN AN HOUR! Some people just don't get it.

That works, but strains the hummingbird - which is ok I guess if you're only using them for soup. I tried a kayak paddle but too much wind reistance to get it up to speed quick enough.
After a few swipes the annoying little buggers began taunting me by drafting the paddle like it was a game or sumthin'.

You must have a VERY sharp eye. When those little buggers are in post pre-flight I can't even SEE the wings!

you guys have obviously never experience the excitement and anticipation, of walking a hummingbird trapline. you never know what you will find when you approach a trap. the anticipation is the best part. once you trap one, the real work starts with all that tiny gutting and feathering. but you do have to work to play. no way around it.

Wrist rocket. Until you've bagged hummingbirds with small rocks flung from y-shaped sticks, you ain't living. All you gun toting rednecks, you probably shoot at deer instead of tackling them and ripping their lungs out too, don't ya???
I only use the small, smooth river rocks from the Upper Colorado River. I travel there twice a year for a week, and spend upwards of 12 hours a day collecting about 15 of the most perfect rocks for hummingbird sport. My slingshot is made from a 1300 year old branch from a Giant Sequoia that I surreptitiously cut down one midnight, and the rubber band is actually the dried and spun small intestine of the last free-roaming Black Footed Ferret. You guys won't tell anyone about this, right? It's our little secret...
