Is that the story? Last year at the Chicago race, she did almost the entire race on the apron. She was something like 12 laps down by the end. She has no business in a race car if she can't even run on the track.

Then again, the IRL cars aren't even real race cars. The whole series is a joke now.

If open-wheel racing ever needed Champ Car back, it's now. OW racing is pretty much disintegrating before our eyes (thank you Tony G. and IRL) and handing supremacy for an entire generation (or more) right over to the yobs that run NASCAR. Yippee. How exciting. The next 40+ years of watching cars drive around in ovals and make occasional left turns. I can hardly contain my excitement. . .

Did anyone see Danica at the ESPYs? She lost over and over and pouted like a spoiled brat every time. She smiled when they announced the nominees and pouted when they announced the winners. She even gave one girl (who won and beat her) the stink-eye. It was almost funny.

I figure she's due for a major meltdown.

.... and unfortunately slow on the track (14 laps down). I saw the footage where Danica passes her (she's several laps down at the time). Duno chops down on her at the corner as if she didn't look first. Patrick claims it happened several times. Duno also reacted defensively, as if she gets a lot of those comments. Did you see any one from her crew defend her? They all acted as though this has happened before.

Given the same access and training I am confident that yes, there are guys here that would be just as good or better. That's not a slam on her really, I believe it's true of some of the guys too.

Motorsports are not like stick and ball sports where all have access and those with skill are obvious. Only a select few even get access, fewer proper training and the pool is drawn form that very small subset.

Not me, but she can't design a mechanical system like I can and I'm not a professional race car driver so it's is a dumb question.

there are plenty of men out there who can drive an IRL car faster and better than she can and won't get a chance because of owners selling out and putting lesser qualified women in the car because they think it will generate more $$$$$ in sponsorship, and it does because the freaking ridiculous media is all over them.

Last week on speed channel I was watching the speed report. they got the the IRL race story and spent about 3 seconds talking about the winner and the 2nd place car, then immediately went to danica who finished 5th. They spend about a minute talking about her drive and then they interviewed her, then interviewed her car's owner, michael. Several minutes were sepnt on her and 3 seconds on the winner.
She finished 5th!
Why not talk about the winner? why not interview him? why not interview his car's owner? because they don't care who wins, all the media cares about is a driver who has an innie instead of an outie. She gets the publicity because she is a woman, not because she drives well. that would be discrimination except it's OK to discriminate against white males.
Giving that much attention and opportunity to lesser qualified drivers because of their gender is an outrage and degrades the sport and insults real fans.
