FLAWS?
You must be talking about some different parallel, I don't see Korea or Vietnam that way. Neither one kicked our a$$es. The people in Iraq have some pretty good weapons to be "homemade" Maybe you mean homemade in Iran, Russia, or China.

nynor 08-01-2008 12:04 PM

hmm... we did evacuate vietnam hanging onto the runners of helicopters. the communists got about half of korea. our soldiers are being killed in iraq by bombs made with aluminum cans and shape charges fired from pipes and detonated with cell phones. what part of our leaving vietnam wasn't about us with our tails between our legs? every military debacle we get involved in is compared to our efforts in vietnam.

Oh wait,, No, it's this guy.

Ronald Wilson Reagan with six letters in each of his three names best fits the Biblical description of the anti-Christ. He met all of the requirements to be named as such. As president of the “melting pot” we call the United States he had power over all kindreds tongues and nations. (Rev 13:7) He was wounded and recovered from the wound. (Rev 13:3) There is a talking doll (Image of the Beast) in his likeness from ToyPresidents.com. (Rev 13:15) There will be a dollar coin with his image on it in 2016. (The mark of the beast) (Rev 13:17)

So many antichrists, so little time.

The part where your liberal hero Kerry and Fonda snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. The Via-Kong has stated they were about to surrender and were surpirised when we gave up. And as for Iraq, we whipped their asses twice in spight of the limp wristed left. I can remember all of the foolishness about how many body bags we were going to need to bring our troops home when I shipped out. Your ilk was wrong then just like they are now.

apparently you have mistaken me for a liberal. au contraire. i believe in the doctrine of isolation, staying out other countries' business. which is even more conservative than most on this forum.

i think it is actually viet-cong. and i missed the memo about them being about to surrender. those folks were going to fight, along with their imported chinese buddies, tooth and nail until the bitter end. and i hardly believe that jane fonda, who should have been tried as a traitor, had anything to do with us leaving vietnam.

nynor 08-01-2008 12:29 PM

and one more thing baron, your personal attacks are not necessary and they don't help you to make your point.

If you really thought that was a personal attack, you need to jump in your 951 and zip over to Home Depot. Once there buy the biggest box of Miracle Grow you can find and dump it down your shorts in hopes of growing a pair. You did correct me on the viet-cong though and my apologies for mistaking you as a liberal.

Straight from the commie's mouth:

General Giap was a brilliant, highly respected leader of the North Vietnam military. The following quote is from his memoirs currently found in the Vietnam war memorial in Hanoi:

"What we still don't understand is why you Americans stopped the bombing of Hanoi. You had us on the ropes. If you had pressed us a little harder, just for another day or two, we were ready to surrender! It was the same at the battles of TET. You defeated us! We knew it, and we thought you knew it.

But we were elated to notice your media was definitely helping us. They were causing more disruption in America than we could in the battlefields. We were ready to surrender. You had won!"

General Giap has published his memoirs and confirmed what most Americans knew. The Vietnam war was not lost in Vietnam -- it was lost at home. The exact same slippery slope, sponsored by the US media, is currently well underway. It exposes the enormous power of a Biased Media to cut out the heart and will of the American public...

i totally agree that the vietnam war was lost by our media. completely. i do, however, disagree that we had it won. the chinese were sending men and materials, nearly an endless supply, to support vietnam.

Don't tell me. Tell General Giap. He answered directly to Genral Ho (chi Mihn), so he should know where of he speaks.

nynor 08-01-2008 12:57 PM

i'd love to see an official transcript from the vietnamese side to support the surrender video. and if it was classified, how does the FBI guy know about it? he isn't part of the state department that he mentions in the video. sorry, i am not buying it without better documentation than that.

general giap's memoirs, however, are very interesting. i wonder if his colleagues would agree with what he has to say.

the fact is, we ran away from vietnam as fast as we could, with over 50,000 casualties, nothing to show for it, and an astronomical monetary cost. it wasn't even our war! for what reason did we take it over from france? were the vietnamese going to overrun our borders? what was the point?

I guess in your youth you saw pictures of people hanging from the helicopters but couldn't tell the difference between Vietnamese and U.S. Military. Those were Vietnamese trying to get out. The war was over, we were already out by then, I think the pictures you saw as a kid were when the people were leaving the Embassy. Millions of North Vietnamese died in that conflict that we weren't allowed to win. They were just about at their end after TET.

the communists got about half of korea.

But they didn't get the other half.
Where does that say we got our a$$es kicked?

our soldiers are being killed in iraq by bombs made with aluminum cans and shape charges fired from pipes and detonated with cell phones.

Your point?

what part of our leaving vietnam wasn't about us with our tails between our legs?

What did you want us to do, nuke them?

every military debacle we get involved in is compared to our efforts in vietnam.

So, do you think this is Vietnam? if so, why?
